FastestVPN vs ZoogVPN compares two small budget VPNs that cut costs in opposite ways. ZoogVPN, from Patras, Greece, lets you use 10 GB a month free and offers its Shadow protocol for blocked networks. FastestVPN, based in the Cayman Islands, asks for one payment, around $39.99 for a PRO licence on deal sites, and includes port forwarding and 15 devices.

This guide compares free use, cost over time, stealth, torrenting, evidence and fit.

FastestVPN vs ZoogVPN on Cost and Free Use

ZoogVPN’s free plan costs nothing, and its two-year plan is about $59.99. FastestVPN’s lifetime PRO licence costs around $39.99 once, so it beats ZoogVPN’s paid plan within two years.

The lifetime value depends on FastestVPN lasting. Our renewal price guide explains renewal costs.

The free allowance resets every month.

ZoogVPN’s free tier gives 10 GB a month on one device, with ads on Android and AES-128 encryption rather than its paid AES-256. FastestVPN has no free tier.

Only ZoogVPN lets you try without paying.

Blocked Networks

Install before travelling.

At home, stealth protocols are rarely needed.

ZoogVPN’s Shadow and ZoogTLS protocols aim to get past networks that block VPNs, findcheapvpns and listify note. We found no comparable obfuscation feature for FastestVPN in our sources, though it offers Double VPN on PRO.

Travellers to filtered networks should test ZoogVPN first.

Torrenting

Check the client’s IP first.

Secure any service you expose through an open port.

Pick a P2P server and check your client’s IP first.

FastestVPN PRO includes port forwarding and P2P servers, and TechRadar found torrenting worked well. We found no port forwarding for ZoogVPN in our sources.

For open ports, FastestVPN is the choice.

Evidence

A warrant canary is a regularly updated statement that no secret orders have arrived.

FastestVPN’s one audit, by Altius IT in 2023, has vague published findings, RTINGS says. ZoogVPN has no public no-logs audit, though its Android app passed Google Play’s security review and its warrant canary was current to August 2026.

Neither offers strong proof. Our VPN audit tracker lists providers that do.

Devices, Extras, Speed and Network

A router counts as one device on either.

FastestVPN PRO covers 15 devices and adds a NAT firewall, an ad blocker and split tunnelling, its listing says. ZoogVPN allows 10 devices on paid plans in several reviews and one free.

Bigger households fit FastestVPN PRO.

Expect slower speeds at peak evening hours on either.

RTINGS found FastestVPN slow in 2026; its listing claims more than 900 servers in over 100 countries. ZoogVPN’s network covers roughly 35 to 55 countries.

Test both from home before committing.

Who Each Is For

Pick by how long you will keep the VPN.

Test from home first.

Both are budget picks with thin evidence.

ZoogVPN suits budget travellers who want a free allowance and Shadow. FastestVPN suits torrent users and big households who want to pay once and keep the VPN for years.

Try ZoogVPN free first; buy FastestVPN only for long-term use.

FastestVPN vs ZoogVPN: who should pick which

Protocols, Kill Switch and Streaming

FastestVPN runs WireGuard, OpenVPN and IKEv2 with a kill switch on all its apps, one 2026 review says. ZoogVPN supports OpenVPN, IKEv2 and L2TP alongside Shadow and ZoogTLS, and documents a kill switch and leak protection.

At home, the standard protocols on either are fine.

FastestVPN lists dedicated streaming servers, and TechRadar found the services it tried worked. ZoogVPN’s smaller network leaves fewer places to switch to when a service blocks one.

Streaming results change; test before you rely on them.

Payments, Support and Base

Card payments are usually the easiest to refund.

One review notes ZoogVPN accepts Alipay and WeChat Pay, and it falls under Greek and EU rules. FastestVPN offers 24/7 live chat, TechRadar notes, and names the Cayman Islands as its base.

Ask about refunds before buying a lifetime deal.

Fixed IPs and Blocking

Blocking at DNS level may break a few sites.

FastestVPN sells a dedicated IP as a low-cost add-on, TechRadar notes, and its PRO licence adds an ad blocker, anti-malware and a NAT firewall. We found no dedicated-IP option or built-in ad blocker for ZoogVPN in our sources.

Most home users can skip a fixed IP.

Refunds and Testing

Ask before you pay.

Keep your order number.

One 2026 review describes a seven-day refund for ZoogVPN, and its free plan works as an open-ended trial. For FastestVPN’s lifetime deals, refund terms depend on where you buy.

Start with ZoogVPN free, then decide whether a one-off payment makes sense.

Who Should Look Elsewhere

Check our audit tracker for alternatives.

People who need proven privacy should skip both: ZoogVPN has no public audit, and FastestVPN’s one 2023 report leaves questions, RTINGS says. Streaming fans may also want a larger, faster network. For a head-to-head, see our ZoogVPN vs PrivateVPN comparison.

For cheap everyday protection, either can still work.

How We Research

This page draws on RTINGS’ and TechRadar’s FastestVPN reviews, a 2026 FastestVPN PRO deal listing, findcheapvpns’ ZoogVPN safety check and listify’s 2026 VPN comparison. We cross-checked these sources against each other, and where they conflict or something can’t be verified, we say so in the text rather than guessing. We checked time-sensitive figures, including prices in US dollars, on 8 October 2026. The main source we relied on is RTINGS’ FastestVPN review. Our full approach lives on the About Us page.
