TunnelBear Sky Go access failed in the one test we found that checked it. Top10VPN’s July 2026 review lists Sky Go as not working on either the free or the paid plan, even though the same review reached BBC iPlayer, Channel 4 and ITVX on a UK server. Sky Go is one of the stricter UK services, and it also needs a Sky subscription; a VPN only helps if you already pay for Sky and are travelling.
This guide covers the results, what to try and providers that cover Sky Go.
What Testers Found
Top10VPN tested UK streaming in detail: BBC iPlayer worked on both plans, Disney+ UK on the paid plan, and Sky Go on neither. Other testers did not check Sky Go, but several, including Gizmodo, Cloudwards and WizCase, found BBC iPlayer blocked, which suggests UK services often detect TunnelBear’s addresses.

Who Sky Go Is For
Sky Go comes with Sky TV subscriptions in the UK and Ireland. It is not a service you can buy separately, so a VPN matters only to subscribers abroad who want their usual channels. Using it elsewhere may breach Sky’s terms; check them before trying.
What to Try With TunnelBear Sky Go
Connect to a UK server on the paid plan, then open Sky Go fresh, after clearing its cache or the browser’s cookies. If Sky Go shows a location or VPN error, try again later on another day; results can change. If it still fails, a provider with a documented Sky Go route is the practical answer.

Why TunnelBear Sky Go Attempts Fail
UK broadcasters check whether an address belongs to a VPN, and Sky Go has a reputation for strict checks. TunnelBear does not market streaming servers or address rotation, so its UK addresses are easier to flag. That fits Top10VPN’s result.
Free Plan and Sky Go
The free plan includes a UK server, but Top10VPN found Sky Go blocked there too, and 2 GB a month would not last long with live sport or films. Our TunnelBear free guide covers the limits.
Devices
Sky Go runs on phones, tablets, computers and some consoles. TunnelBear has apps for Windows, Mac, iOS and Android, but none for TVs or consoles, Holafly notes, which narrows where you could even try it.
Checking for Leaks
If Sky Go shows a location error with the VPN on, run our DNS leak guide and our WebRTC leak guide to rule out leaks before deciding Sky Go blocks the server.
A Quick Rule
Sky subscriber travelling? Try TunnelBear Sky Go once on a UK server; if it fails, use a provider with a Sky Go guide. Not a subscriber? A VPN will not give you Sky Go.
Is TunnelBear Sky Go Worth Testing?
If you already pay for TunnelBear and Sky, one attempt costs nothing. If you are choosing a VPN for Sky Go, a single negative test is enough reason to start with providers that publish Sky Go guides.
Several Devices
Unlimited sets no device limit, so a phone and a laptop can both try, each on a different UK server.
Results Change
Streaming access shifts as services update block lists. Cybernews, for example, found BBC iPlayer working with TunnelBear in 2024 but not later. Check newer reviews before buying for Sky Go.
Kill Switch
Keep VigilantBear on during any test, so Sky Go never sees your real address if the tunnel drops mid-stream. Our kill switch guide explains why.
Protocol Choice
WireGuard is the faster option in TunnelBear’s apps, WizCase notes. Protocol rarely changes whether a broadcaster accepts an address, but it helps live streams stay smooth.
Browser or App
If Sky Go in a browser detects the VPN, try the app instead, after clearing its data. Browsers can expose location through WebRTC and stored cookies, which apps avoid.
Quick Check
Before opening Sky Go, confirm a UK address on our test page. If the address is right and Sky Go still refuses, Sky Go has flagged the server.
Keeping It Updated
After app updates, check that your protocol and VigilantBear settings stayed the same before trying Sky Go again.
Sky’s Terms
Sky’s terms set where you may use Sky Go; read them before trying from abroad.
UK Services That Worked
Top10VPN reached BBC iPlayer, Channel 4 and ITVX on TunnelBear’s UK server, though other testers found iPlayer blocked. Our TunnelBear UK guide covers the UK server and those results.
Providers With Sky Go Guides
Our NordVPN Sky Go guide and Surfshark Sky Go guide cover two providers; NordVPN and Surfshark share an owner, Nord Security.

TunnelBear’s Record
TunnelBear has had annual Cure53 audits since 2017 and belongs to McAfee, our tables record. Its free plan gives 2 GB a month, and Unlimited sets no device limit. Our TunnelBear safety guide covers the full picture.
How We Research
This page draws on Top10VPN’s July 2026 TunnelBear review, Cloudwards’, WizCase’s and Gizmodo’s 2026 coverage and our TunnelBear tables. We cross-checked these sources against each other, and where they conflict or something can’t be verified, we say so in the text rather than guessing. We checked time-sensitive figures, including prices in US dollars, on 7 October 2026. The main source we relied on is Top10VPN’s TunnelBear review. Our full approach lives on the About Us page.
