This SafeShellVPN review covers a streaming-focused VPN from GearUP Portal PTE. LTD., the developer named on its App Store listing. Its headline feature is App Mode, which can send different apps to different countries at the same time.
SafeShell targets people who watch content from several regions, especially on Apple TV. We look at what App Mode does, what it costs and what users report.
SafeShellVPN Review: Is It Worth It in 2026?
It is worth it if you stream across regions on Apple devices and want each app to keep its own location. Users on Trustpilot call App Mode a game changer on Apple TV.
It is less suitable for privacy-first users. SafeShell claims zero logs, but no independent audit backs that, and some users report problems with support.
What SafeShellVPN Costs
Prices depend on the store. The one-month VIP plan costs $11.99 in one App Store listing and $12.99 in another, so check the price in your own store.
The app is free to download, with paid VIP plans inside it. You can cancel through your App Store account settings, the listing notes. Our VPN refund guide covers how refunds work.

Because prices differ between App Store regions, the same plan can cost more in one country than another. Check the price shown in your own store before you subscribe.
Subscriptions through Apple or Google follow those stores’ refund rules, which can differ from a provider’s own terms.
App Mode: The Reason People Choose It
App Mode routes selected apps through different regions at once, SafeShell’s App Store listing explains, and SafeShell calls the technology patented. For example, one streaming app can use a US server while another uses a UK server.
That suits households with several services from different countries. A second extra translates subtitles into more than 30 languages, now including Disney+, according to the listing.
⚠️ App Mode has had problems. A Trustpilot user wrote in 2025 that App Mode had become a mess on iOS and Android, and another said it made a TV box unresponsive.
App Mode works like a smart form of split tunnelling, where each app gets its own route. It is especially useful on Apple TV, where switching servers manually is slow.
If an app shows the wrong country, restart it after changing its region. Apps often cache your location.
What Users Disagree On
App ratings are positive overall. The App Store listing shows 4.3 out of 5 from more than 10,000 ratings, according to Marlvel, and Trustpilot shows 4 out of 5.
Complaints are specific, though. One Trustpilot user calls the support terrible, and an App Store reviewer found the VPN worked only on home Wi-Fi, not on mobile data.

High store ratings and harsh individual complaints can both be true. Ratings average many short-term users, while detailed complaints often come from long-term ones.
Read the most recent reviews in your own store region, since problems often affect one platform or one update.
Privacy and Logging
SafeShell lists a zero logs policy on the App Store. No independent audit has checked it, so it rests on trust, as our VPN audit tracker explains.
The developer’s PTE. LTD. suffix is a Singapore company form. The listing gives no further detail about the company behind it. Our VPN ownership guide covers why this matters.
A zero-logs claim in an app listing is a marketing statement, not a verified fact. Look for an audit before relying on it for sensitive use.
Speed and Streaming
SafeShell markets high-speed streaming servers with no speed limits. Users report strong results on Apple TV in particular.
We found no independent lab speed tests, however. Our streaming VPN guide lists providers with published results.
Test streaming apps one at a time when you first set up App Mode. That makes it easier to spot which route causes a problem.
Features Worth Knowing
Apps cover iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV and Apple Vision Pro, plus Android and Android TV. Support runs by email and Telegram, the listing says.
Global Mode works like a normal VPN, while App Mode splits apps by region.

Subtitle translation is unusual for a VPN, and it may appeal to language learners as much as travellers.

How We Research
For this SafeShellVPN review, we took features, prices and the developer name from SafeShell’s App Store listing and other store listings, app ratings from Marlvel, and user feedback from Trustpilot, read on 21 October 2026. We found no independent lab tests or audit. Our scores weigh speed, security and privacy, streaming, price and ease of use equally. We do not run our own tests. Our full approach lives on the About Us page.

SafeShellVPN
Clever App Mode, unproven privacy
SafeShellVPN’s App Mode lets each app keep its own region, which streamers on Apple TV value. Against that: no audit, reports of App Mode bugs and weak support, and prices above many rivals.
The Verdict
Our SafeShellVPN review finds a clever streaming tool for people who watch content from several regions.
For privacy, though, it offers claims without proof. Choose it for convenience, not for confidential use.
