CyberGhost vs PrivadoVPN is a contest between two budget VPNs aimed at streamers. CyberGhost, owned by Kape and based in Romania, has three Deloitte no-logs audits in our table and allows seven devices. It costs $56.94 for its first 26 months, then $56.94 a year, with 45 days to ask for a refund on longer plans. PrivadoVPN, under Icelandic law since May 2026, has no audit in our table but offers a free plan of 10 GB a month and Premium from $1.11 a month on two years, with 10 devices and SOCKS5.
This guide compares streaming, evidence, free use, cost, devices, torrenting and fit.
Built for Streaming
Streaming results change as services update their blocks. Test the services you care about first.
CyberGhost groups servers by streaming service in its apps, Gizmodo notes, so you pick a server labelled for Netflix or BBC iPlayer. VPNOverview found PrivadoVPN opening Netflix in the US, UK, Australia, Brazil and Japan in 2026, and Top10VPN found even its free plan opened US and UK Netflix.
CyberGhost makes choosing a server easier; PrivadoVPN shows you can stream on a budget, even free.

CyberGhost vs PrivadoVPN on Evidence
Audits check systems against the privacy policy. Without them, you rely on the company’s word.
CyberGhost has three Deloitte no-logs audits, from 2022 to late 2025. PrivadoVPN has none in our table; one 2026 review calls its policy audited, which we could not confirm, and PCWorld notes it collects device and traffic data to enforce plan limits.
On outside proof, CyberGhost is ahead. Our VPN audit tracker compares records.
Free Use
PrivadoVPN’s free plan gives 10 GB a month at full speed on one device, then slower servers. CyberGhost has no free plan but offers a free trial of 24 hours on Windows and macOS, seven days on iOS and three on Android, its trial page says.
For ongoing free use, PrivadoVPN is the only option; for a short trial, both work.
Cost Over Time
Both renew at modest prices compared with premium brands, so the long-term gap matters less than features and evidence.
CyberGhost costs $56.94 for its first 26 months and $56.94 a year after that. PrivadoVPN Premium costs $1.11 a month on two years; check its renewal price at checkout.
Both are cheap; PrivadoVPN is cheaper still, and its free plan costs nothing at all. Our renewal price guide compares renewals.

Devices
Count every phone, laptop, tablet and TV in the home before choosing between seven and 10 devices.
A router running either VPN counts as one device and covers the TVs and consoles behind it.
PrivadoVPN allows 10 devices on Premium and one on its free plan. CyberGhost allows seven.
Households with eight to 10 devices fit PrivadoVPN’s paid plan better.
Torrenting and Extras
Whichever you choose, bind your torrent client to the VPN connection and check its IP before downloading.
PrivadoVPN includes SOCKS5 on Premium and allows P2P on selected servers, VPNOverview notes. CyberGhost runs dedicated P2P servers and sells a dedicated IP from $5 a month, but offers no SOCKS5 or port forwarding.
Torrent users who want a fast proxy inside their client lean towards PrivadoVPN’s Premium plan.
Owners and Jurisdiction
Romania sits outside the main intelligence alliances, and Iceland is outside the EU, though inside the European Economic Area.
Kape owns CyberGhost, ExpressVPN and PIA, and review sites including vpnMentor and Wizcase, CyberInsider reports; CyberGhost is based in Romania. PrivadoVPN moved from Switzerland to Iceland in May 2026. We put the two side by side in our PIA vs PrivadoVPN comparison.
Our VPN ownership guide explains why that matters.
Who Each Is For
Both are cheap. The choice is mostly about labelled servers and audits on one side, and a free plan and SOCKS5 on the other.
CyberGhost suits streamers who want labelled servers, three audits, a 45-day refund and low renewals. PrivadoVPN suits people who want to stream free or for very little, use SOCKS5 and cover up to 10 devices.
Try PrivadoVPN’s free plan first; for light streaming on one device, it may be all you need.

TVs and Sticks
A router is the fallback for TVs without an app. It covers everything behind it as one device.
PrivadoVPN’s Fire TV app works on all its plans, its blog says. CyberGhost has apps for Fire TV and Android TV, though not Amazon’s newer Vega OS sticks, our tables record.
For a Vega OS stick, check PrivadoVPN’s support too before buying.
Kill Switch and Linux
Linux users on PrivadoVPN’s free plan will need to upgrade to Premium first.
PrivadoVPN’s per-app kill switch held up in TechRadar’s stress tests, and CyberGhost includes a kill switch in its main apps. PrivadoVPN supports Linux only on Premium, through the command line or Network Manager.
Test the kill switch on either by switching Wi-Fi off and on while connected.
How We Research
This page draws on PrivadoVPN’s Wikipedia entry, VPNOverview’s, Top10VPN’s and PCWorld’s PrivadoVPN coverage, Gizmodo on CyberGhost, CyberInsider’s report on Kape and our audit and price tables. We cross-checked these sources against each other, and where they conflict or something can’t be verified, we say so in the text rather than guessing. We checked time-sensitive figures, including prices in US dollars, on 8 October 2026. The main source we relied on is PrivadoVPN’s Wikipedia entry. Our full approach lives on the About Us page.
