FastestVPN vs PrivadoVPN is a choice between two cheap routes: never paying, or paying once. PrivadoVPN, under Icelandic law since May 2026, gives 10 GB a month free and charges $1.11 a month on two years for Premium. FastestVPN, a Cayman Islands service, sells a lifetime PRO licence for 15 devices that deal sites list at $39.99.
Neither has strong outside proof: PrivadoVPN has no audit in our table, and FastestVPN’s single 2023 audit is thin, RTINGS says. This guide compares free use, cost over time, torrenting, streaming, speed and fit.
FastestVPN vs PrivadoVPN: Free or Lifetime
PrivadoVPN’s free tier needs no card, so testing costs nothing.
PrivadoVPN’s free tier runs at full speed for 10 GB a month on one device, then drops to slower servers, and Top10VPN found it opened US and UK Netflix. FastestVPN has no free tier, but its lifetime licence means one payment and no renewals.
Light users may never need to pay PrivadoVPN; heavy users may prefer paying FastestVPN once.

Cost Over Time
PrivadoVPN Premium costs $1.11 a month on a two-year plan, about $27 over that term; check the renewal at checkout. FastestVPN’s PRO lifetime licence costs around $39.99 once, so it becomes cheaper only if you keep using it for well over two years.
The lifetime saving depends on FastestVPN staying in business. Our renewal price guide explains renewal traps.

Evidence
Weigh that before paying.
An audit checks systems against the privacy policy at one point in time.
Altius IT reviewed FastestVPN’s no-logs claims in 2023, TechRadar notes, but RTINGS calls the published findings exceptionally vague and notes the policy permits some analytics. PrivadoVPN has no audit in our table, and PCWorld says it collects device and traffic data to enforce limits.
If proof matters, look elsewhere. Our VPN audit tracker lists audited providers.
Torrenting
Seed with care.
Pick a P2P server on either.
Check your torrent client’s IP before downloading.
FastestVPN PRO includes port forwarding, and TechRadar found its P2P servers worked well, with the full swarm reachable. PrivadoVPN offers SOCKS5 on Premium and P2P on selected servers, but no port forwarding in our sources.
Torrent users who want open ports lean towards FastestVPN.
Streaming and Speed
Test from home first.
Results change as services update their blocks.
VPNOverview found PrivadoVPN opening Netflix in the US, UK, Australia, Brazil and Japan in 2026. FastestVPN lists dedicated streaming servers, and TechRadar found everything it tried worked.
Both can stream on a budget; test your services first.
Pick the closest location for the quickest result.
RTINGS found FastestVPN slow in 2026, and TechRadar says it trails top VPNs on speed. PrivadoVPN’s free tier keeps full speed until its 10 GB cap, then slows.
Speed varies by location, so test from home during your usual hours.
Devices and Extras
A router running either VPN counts as one device.
FastestVPN PRO covers 15 devices and adds a NAT firewall, an ad blocker, Double VPN and split tunnelling, its listing says. PrivadoVPN covers 10 on Premium and adds its Control Tower DNS blocker and a per-app kill switch that passed TechRadar’s stress tests.
Large households get more from FastestVPN PRO.
Who Each Is For
Pay only for what you will actually use.
Both are cheap enough to test without much risk.
PrivadoVPN suits light users who want to start free, stream and maybe upgrade cheaply. FastestVPN suits budget torrent users and large households who prefer a single payment.
Start with PrivadoVPN’s free plan; buy FastestVPN only if you will use it for years.

Kill Switch, Support and Platforms
PrivadoVPN’s per-app kill switch passed TechRadar’s stress tests, though its explanation on screen was imprecise. FastestVPN includes a kill switch on every platform, one 2026 review notes, and offers round-the-clock live chat, TechRadar adds.
Drop your Wi-Fi briefly while connected to confirm either one works.
PrivadoVPN’s Fire TV app works even on its free plan, while Linux needs Premium. FastestVPN’s listing says its apps cover smart TVs and routers as well as computers and phones.
Check your exact device before paying for either.
Where Each Is Based
Neither base replaces an audit.
PrivadoVPN moved from Switzerland to Iceland in May 2026; Iceland sits outside the EU but inside the European Economic Area, where the GDPR applies. FastestVPN names the Cayman Islands as its home, one 2026 review notes.
Our VPN ownership guide explains why the base matters less than evidence.
Blocking Tools
Test first.
DNS blocking can break some sites, so whitelist the ones you need.
PrivadoVPN’s Control Tower blocks malicious sites, ads, social networks and adult content at the DNS level. FastestVPN PRO bundles an ad blocker, anti-malware and a NAT firewall, its listing says. Our PrivadoVPN vs PrivateVPN comparison sets the two side by side.
Both add filtering without a separate app; test sites you rely on.
How We Research
This page draws on RTINGS’ and TechRadar’s FastestVPN reviews, a 2026 FastestVPN PRO deal listing, PrivadoVPN’s Wikipedia entry and VPNOverview’s, Top10VPN’s, PCWorld’s and TechRadar’s PrivadoVPN coverage. We cross-checked these sources against each other, and where they conflict or something can’t be verified, we say so in the text rather than guessing. We checked time-sensitive figures, including prices in US dollars, on 8 October 2026. The main source we relied on is RTINGS’ FastestVPN review. Our full approach lives on the About Us page.
