OrionVPN Review (2026): Simple App, Many Look-Alikes

Disclosure: VPNFin is reader-supported. If you buy a VPN through links on this page, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. This never affects our ratings — here’s our full disclosure.

This OrionVPN review covers the VPN from orionvpn.com, sold as OrionVPN – Secure VPN App on Google Play. Before anything else, it addresses a real risk: several unrelated apps use the same name.

We found at least four other Android apps called Orion VPN from different developers, and a separate service at orionvpn.net that has shut down. Below, we explain how to pick the right one and what this OrionVPN offers.

OrionVPN Review: Is It Worth It in 2026?

It may suit you if you want a simple Android VPN with a dedicated IP option. The app connects with one tap and lets you pause protection briefly.

For anything sensitive, though, we cannot recommend it yet. We found no independent tests or audit, and the Play Store listing discloses that the app may collect personal data.

Which OrionVPN Is Which

The OrionVPN in this review lists info@orionvpn.com and dev@orionvpn.com as contacts on OrionVPN’s Google Play listing. Check those addresses before you install.

Other apps with the same name come from unrelated developers. One lists a company in Guangzhou, China, and a Gmail contact. Another, from Orion Abacus Association, has only a few thousand downloads and carries ads, AppBrain reports.

⚠️ One look-alike has closed. The service at orionvpn.net says it has stopped operations and shut down, so any old guide pointing there no longer applies.

OrionVPN review: how to tell the right OrionVPN app from look-alikes

Look-alike apps are common in VPN categories because popular names attract searches. Some copy a name innocently; others hope users will not notice the difference.

Install only from the official store page, and compare the developer name, website and contact address before tapping Install. Ratings alone can mislead, since each app has its own reviews.

What the App Offers

The listing promises a large server network for browsing, streaming and gaming. It also offers a dedicated IP option, which gives you a fixed address for remote work tools and logins.

A pause button lets you stop the VPN and resume with one tap. Our guide to VPNs versus proxies explains what a VPN does and does not protect.

A dedicated IP gives you the same address every time you connect. That helps with banking and work logins that flag changing addresses, but it makes you easier to recognise online.

The pause feature is handy for apps that refuse VPN connections. Remember to resume protection afterwards.

What the Listing Discloses

OrionVPN says it does not log browsing activity. However, Google Play’s data safety section states the app may collect personal info, app activity and two other data types.

Data is encrypted in transit, the listing adds. Those two statements are not contradictory, but they show that a no-logs promise does not mean no data at all.

OrionVPN review: what the Google Play listing claims and discloses

Google Play’s data safety section relies on developers’ own declarations. It is useful, but it is not an audit, so treat it as a starting point.

Privacy and Ownership

The listing does not name the company behind orionvpn.com in the text we read. Without that, accountability is hard to trace, as our page on who owns your VPN explains.

We also found no independent audit. Our VPN audit tracker lists providers whose claims an outside firm has checked.

Ask support which company operates the app and where it is registered. A clear answer is a reasonable expectation for any paid VPN.

Speed and Streaming

We found no independent speed or streaming tests for this OrionVPN. Results will depend on the servers you choose.

If streaming matters, test your service first. Our streaming VPN guide lists providers with published results.

Test a nearby server first to see your baseline, then a distant one. Note the speed drop compared with your normal connection.

How to Check It Yourself

After installing, run a leak test as our guide to checking if a VPN is working shows. Then check WebRTC leaks with our WebRTC leak guide.

OrionVPN review: who should pick it and who should look elsewhere

Finally, open the app’s permissions in your phone settings and switch off anything a VPN does not need.

Who Should Look Elsewhere

Anyone who needs dependable privacy should choose an identifiable, audited provider. Our no-logs VPN guide covers the best-documented options.

If you want a dedicated IP from a better-documented provider, several audited VPNs sell them as add-ons. Compare the yearly cost before choosing.

Streaming fans should pick a provider with published results, since we found no tests for OrionVPN.

How We Research

For this OrionVPN review, we read OrionVPN’s Google Play listing and the other Orion VPN listings on Google Play and AppBrain, plus the closure notice at orionvpn.net, on 21 October 2026. We found no independent tests or audit, and no prices we could confirm. Our scores weigh speed, security and privacy, streaming, price and ease of use equally. We do not run our own tests. Our full approach lives on the About Us page.

Simple app, easy to confuse

OrionVPN offers one-tap connection, a pause button and a dedicated IP option. Against that: several unrelated apps share its name, the company is not named in its listing, it may collect data, and no independent test or audit exists.

The Verdict

Our OrionVPN review finds a simple Android VPN that is easy to confuse with look-alikes.

If you try it, confirm the developer first and run your own checks. For anything private, an audited provider is the safer choice.
