PrivadoVPN vs StrongVPN compares a free-to-start budget service with a paid specialist for the living room. PrivadoVPN, under Icelandic law since May 2026, offers 10 GB a month free, Netflix in five regions and Premium from $1.11 a month. StrongVPN, which Ziff Davis now owns, skips the free tier but adds Smart DNS for consoles, room for 12 devices and the lowest local ping of the 59 VPNs Top10VPN tested in 2026.
Neither has a recent no-logs audit in our sources. This guide compares free use, consoles, speed, streaming, torrenting, price and fit.
PrivadoVPN vs StrongVPN: Free Start or Living Room
PrivadoVPN’s free tier runs at full speed for 10 GB a month on one device, and Top10VPN found it opened US and UK Netflix. StrongVPN’s Smart DNS instead lets a PlayStation, Xbox or smart TV reach streaming services without a VPN app, and Top10VPN rates it highly.
Phones and laptops suit PrivadoVPN’s free plan; consoles suit StrongVPN. Smart DNS adds no encryption, so it serves streaming rather than privacy.

Speed
Pick the nearest location for the best result.
Top10VPN found StrongVPN extremely fast on long-distance connections and lowest of 59 VPNs for local ping. PrivadoVPN’s free tier keeps full speed until its cap, then moves you to slower servers, the company told App Store users.
Gamers and frequent callers will notice StrongVPN’s edge; for browsing, both are fine.
Streaming and Torrenting
Results change as services update their blocks.
VPNOverview found PrivadoVPN opening Netflix in the US, UK, Australia, Brazil and Japan in 2026. StrongVPN does best with US services, Top10VPN found, opening HBO Max at the first attempt.
PrivadoVPN covers more Netflix regions; StrongVPN covers consoles.
SOCKS5 adds no encryption on its own.
PrivadoVPN offers SOCKS5 on Premium and P2P on selected servers. We found no port forwarding or SOCKS5 for StrongVPN in our sources.
Torrent users get more from PrivadoVPN. Check your client’s IP before downloading.
Cost Over Two Years
Therefore, budget users save the most with PrivadoVPN.
Also, compare renewals before you commit.
PrivadoVPN Premium costs about $27 for two years. StrongVPN’s yearly plan costs $47.69 and then $89.99, about $137.68 over two years, and its $11.99 monthly plan carries no refund.
PrivadoVPN is roughly five times cheaper. Our renewal price guide explains renewals.

Evidence
Without an audit, you rely on each company’s word.
Top10VPN notes StrongVPN’s apps are unaudited and lack post-quantum encryption. PrivadoVPN has no audit in our table, and PCWorld says it collects device and traffic data to enforce plan limits.
Neither offers outside proof. Our VPN audit tracker lists providers that do.
Devices and Apps
Count every device first.
StrongVPN covers 12 devices, but its kill switch is off by default and its split tunnelling works only on Android, Top10VPN notes. PrivadoVPN covers 10 on Premium, with a per-app kill switch that passed TechRadar’s stress tests and split tunnelling.
Turn on and test the kill switch on whichever you choose.
A Simple Test, and Who Each Is For
Start with PrivadoVPN’s free plan on your phone and laptop. If you need a console covered or lower ping for games, buy StrongVPN’s yearly plan and use its 30-day refund window to test Smart DNS.
Avoid StrongVPN’s monthly plan while testing.
PrivadoVPN suits budget users who want free or very cheap streaming and SOCKS5. StrongVPN suits gamers and console owners who want Smart DNS, low ping and up to 12 devices.
Anyone who needs audited proof should look elsewhere.

Networks, Base, Routers and TVs
PrivadoVPN runs servers in 60 cities across 49 countries and sits under Icelandic law, inside the European Economic Area. StrongVPN offers around 67 locations in 42 countries in one 2026 count and is owned by Ziff Davis in the US.
Neither base replaces an audit. Our VPN ownership guide explains why.
StrongVPN offers a Fire TV app and a WireGuard generator for routers. PrivadoVPN’s Fire TV app works on all plans, including free, and its Linux support needs Premium.
A router running either VPN covers every device behind it.
Split Tunnelling and Linux
Split tunnelling lets chosen apps, such as local banking, skip the VPN.
PrivadoVPN lets you include or exclude apps from the tunnel and supports Linux on Premium through the command line or Network Manager. StrongVPN’s split tunnelling works only on Android, and reviewers disagree on its Linux app.
Linux users should check both download pages first.
Blocking Tools, and Who Should Look Elsewhere
PrivadoVPN’s Control Tower blocks malicious sites, ads and other categories at the DNS level. We found no comparable blocker for StrongVPN in our sources.
DNS blocking can break some sites, so whitelist the ones you need.
Anyone who needs an audit, port forwarding or tools for filtered networks should look beyond both. Our audit tracker lists alternatives.
For cheap streaming or console coverage, one of these still fits.
How We Research
This page draws on Top10VPN’s StrongVPN review, PrivadoVPN’s Wikipedia entry and VPNOverview’s, Top10VPN’s, PCWorld’s and TechRadar’s PrivadoVPN coverage. We cross-checked these sources against each other, and where they conflict or something can’t be verified, we say so in the text rather than guessing. We checked time-sensitive figures, including prices in US dollars, on 8 October 2026. The main source we relied on is Top10VPN’s StrongVPN review. Our full approach lives on the About Us page.
