VyprVPN vs PrivadoVPN pits a stealth specialist against a budget all-rounder. VyprVPN, the Certida-owned service that runs its own servers, leans on its Chameleon protocol to slip past blocks and costs about $3 a month on two years. PrivadoVPN, under Icelandic law since May 2026, gives 10 GB a month free and Premium from $1.11 a month, with strong streaming results.
This guide compares free use, stealth, streaming, torrenting, evidence, price and fit.
VyprVPN vs PrivadoVPN: Free or Stealth
At home, stealth tools are rarely needed.
PrivadoVPN’s free tier runs at full speed for 10 GB a month on one device, and Top10VPN found it opened US and UK Netflix. VyprVPN has no free plan, but its Chameleon protocol scrambles packet metadata so networks struggle to spot VPN traffic, Impulsec notes.
Start free with PrivadoVPN; choose VyprVPN if your network blocks VPNs.
Streaming and Torrenting
Also, PrivadoVPN’s free plan does not include SOCKS5.
Results change as services update their blocks.
VPNOverview found PrivadoVPN opening Netflix in the US, UK, Australia, Brazil and Japan in 2026. We found no recent streaming tests for VyprVPN in our sources.
For streaming, PrivadoVPN has the evidence.
Evidence
Weigh that before a long plan.
Ownership changes are a reason to want fresh audits.
VyprVPN published one of the first no-logs audits, by Leviathan in 2018, but none since, including after Certida took over. PrivadoVPN has no audit in our table, and PCWorld says it collects device and traffic data to enforce limits.
Neither offers current proof. Our VPN audit tracker lists providers that do.
SOCKS5 speeds up a torrent client without encryption.
PrivadoVPN offers SOCKS5 on Premium and P2P on selected servers. We found no port forwarding or SOCKS5 for VyprVPN in our sources.
Torrent users lean towards PrivadoVPN.
Cost
Compare renewals too.
VyprVPN’s monthly price is listed at about $10 on some sites.
Introductory prices hide the real cost.
PrivadoVPN Premium costs about $27 for two years. VyprVPN costs about $3 a month on two years, roughly $72, with some sites listing $10 monthly, fahimai notes.
PrivadoVPN is far cheaper. Our renewal price guide compares renewals.
Devices, Apps, Base and Owners
Count every device first.
Both cover 10 devices on paid plans, recent reviews note. PrivadoVPN’s per-app kill switch passed TechRadar’s stress tests and it offers split tunnelling; VyprVPN supports WireGuard, OpenVPN and IKEv2 alongside Chameleon.
A router counts as one device on either.
Read both privacy policies.
PrivadoVPN sits under Icelandic law, inside the European Economic Area, where the GDPR applies. Certida owns VyprVPN, which owns its servers rather than renting them, fahimai notes.
Our VPN ownership guide explains why ownership matters.
Who Each Is For
Therefore, start with PrivadoVPN unless your network blocks VPNs.
Both are cheap enough to test without much risk.
In short, the VyprVPN vs PrivadoVPN choice is stealth against savings.
PrivadoVPN suits people who want a free start, streaming, SOCKS5 and the lowest price. VyprVPN suits travellers who mainly need Chameleon on filtered networks.
Try PrivadoVPN free first if you are unsure.
Speed, Refunds and Testing

Test both from home at the same time of day.
VyprVPN refunds first purchases within 30 days, our tables record. PrivadoVPN’s free plan works as an open-ended trial with no card needed.

Blocking Tools, Routers and TVs
A router covers devices without apps.
Neither blocker replaces an antivirus.
PrivadoVPN’s Control Tower blocks malicious sites, ads, social networks and adult content at the DNS level. We found no comparable blocker for VyprVPN in our sources.
DNS blocking can break some sites, so whitelist the ones you need.
VyprVPN’s Chameleon also runs on routers, ProPrivacy notes, which can cover a whole home. PrivadoVPN’s Fire TV app works on all its plans, including free, its blog says.
For a TV stick, PrivadoVPN is the simpler route.
Protocols, Kill Switch and Who Should Look Elsewhere
At home, WireGuard is the fast default on both.
Both support WireGuard, OpenVPN and IKEv2; VyprVPN adds Chameleon. PrivadoVPN’s per-app kill switch passed TechRadar’s stress tests; check VyprVPN’s kill switch setting on your platform.
Test either by dropping Wi-Fi briefly while connected.
Anyone who needs a recent audit or port forwarding should look further; neither offers both in our sources.
Our audit tracker lists alternatives.
A Simple Test
Keep your order number for any refund.
Install PrivadoVPN’s free plan first and try a streaming service and a video call. If your network blocks it, buy VyprVPN within its 30-day refund window and switch on Chameleon.
That way you pay only if the free option fails.
How We Research
This page draws on PrivadoVPN’s Wikipedia entry, VPNOverview’s, Top10VPN’s, PCWorld’s and TechRadar’s PrivadoVPN coverage, and Impulsec’s and fahimai’s VyprVPN coverage. We cross-checked these sources against each other, and where they conflict or something can’t be verified, we say so in the text rather than guessing. We checked time-sensitive figures, including prices in US dollars, on 8 October 2026. The main source we relied on is PrivadoVPN’s Wikipedia entry. Our full approach lives on the About Us page.
