Norton VPN vs StrongVPN compares two American VPNs from large groups with different priorities. StrongVPN, a 2005 service now owned by media company Ziff Davis, focuses on the living room: Smart DNS for consoles, 12 devices and the lowest local ping of 59 VPNs in Top10VPN’s 2026 tests. Norton VPN, from security group Gen Digital, focuses on proof and reassurance: two no-logs audits and 60 days for refunds.
This guide compares evidence, consoles, speed, refunds, devices, price and fit.
Norton VPN vs StrongVPN on Evidence
Therefore, Norton is the safer pick if proof matters.
Without an audit, you rely on the company’s word.
Auditors checked Norton’s no-logs policy in 2024 and October 2025, and its Mimic protocol in December 2025, Tom’s Guide reports. StrongVPN has no audit in our table, and Top10VPN notes its apps are unaudited and lack post-quantum encryption.
For proof, Norton is clearly ahead. Our VPN audit tracker compares providers.

Consoles, TVs and Speed
Also, a router can cover consoles with either.
Smart DNS adds no encryption, so it suits streaming.
StrongVPN’s Smart DNS lets a games console or smart TV reach streaming services without a VPN app, and it has a Fire TV app. We found no Smart DNS for Norton in our sources.
For consoles, StrongVPN is simpler.
Ping matters most for games and calls.
Top10VPN found StrongVPN extremely fast on long-distance connections and lowest for local ping. Tom’s Guide highlights Norton’s fast speeds too.
Gamers and frequent callers will notice StrongVPN’s ping most.
Refunds
Test first.
However, app-store purchases follow the store’s own rules.
A longer window gives time to test every device you own.
Ask for any refund in writing.
Norton gives 60 days for refunds plus a seven-day trial. StrongVPN refunds only yearly plans within 30 days; its $11.99 monthly plan gets nothing back.
Norton is far safer to test.
Price
Also, StrongVPN’s monthly plan is $11.99.
Compare totals over the term you keep.
Set a reminder before renewal.
StrongVPN costs $47.69 for its first year, then $89.99. Norton Plus costs $29.99 for its first year, Tom’s Guide lists, and Standard renews at $79.99.
Norton is cheaper in year one and slightly cheaper on renewal. Our renewal price guide compares.

Devices, Apps and Blocked Networks
A router counts as one device.
StrongVPN covers 12 devices, but its kill switch is off by default and split tunnelling works only on Android, Top10VPN notes. Norton covers five on Standard and Plus and 10 on Ultimate, with split tunnelling on Windows and Android.
Turn on and test the kill switch on whichever you choose.
Install before travelling.
Norton’s Mimic protocol disguises VPN traffic as HTTPS. We found no obfuscation feature for StrongVPN in our sources.
For filtered networks, Norton has the tool.
Owners
Also, read both privacy policies.
Both groups also sell other products.
Ziff Davis owns StrongVPN alongside IPVanish and publications such as PCMag and CNET. Gen Digital owns Norton alongside Avast and AVG, and Norton’s policy allows sharing data within the group, Security.org notes.
Our VPN ownership guide explains why owners matter.
Who Each Is For, and Streaming
In short, the Norton VPN vs StrongVPN choice turns on your devices.
StrongVPN suits gamers and console owners who want Smart DNS, low ping and 12 devices. Norton suits people who want audited protection, Mimic and a long refund window.
Count your consoles before choosing.

Tom’s Guide highlights Norton’s strong streaming unblocking. StrongVPN does best with US services, Top10VPN found, opening HBO Max at the first attempt.
Both stream well; test the services you use.
Networks, Protocols and Who Should Look Elsewhere
VPN.com lists Norton at more than 1,500 servers in over 30 countries; StrongVPN offers around 67 locations in 42 countries in one 2026 count. StrongVPN’s WireGuard generator helps router setups, while Norton’s Mac app lacks WireGuard and OpenVPN.
Mac and router users may prefer StrongVPN.
Linux and Bundles
Also, check app stores for your device.
Reviewers disagree on StrongVPN’s Linux app, though its WireGuard generator works with Linux setups. We found no Norton VPN app for Linux in our sources.
Linux users should check StrongVPN’s download page first.
Norton VPN often comes inside Norton 360 suites alongside antivirus and identity tools. StrongVPN is sold on its own, with its Smart DNS included in every plan.
If you already pay for Norton 360, check what it includes.
Torrent users who need port forwarding should look beyond both. People who want open-source apps should too.
Our audit tracker lists alternatives with repeated outside checks.
How to Test Both
Use Norton’s seven-day trial first, then StrongVPN’s yearly plan if you need Smart DNS, since its 30-day refund covers yearly plans only. Check a console, a video call and one streaming service on each. Our PrivadoVPN vs StrongVPN comparison sets the two side by side.
Note any dropped connections before the refund window closes.
How We Research
This page draws on Top10VPN’s StrongVPN review, Tom’s Guide’s reports on Norton VPN’s 2025 changes and Security.org’s Norton coverage. We cross-checked these sources against each other, and where they conflict or something can’t be verified, we say so in the text rather than guessing. We checked time-sensitive figures, including prices in US dollars, on 8 October 2026. The main source we relied on is Top10VPN’s StrongVPN review. Our full approach lives on the About Us page.
