UltraVPN Price: The Short Answer

UltraVPN costs $7.99 a month or $59.88 a year. Its two-year plan later renews at $159.80 for each further two years, ProPrivacy notes, so the cheapest-looking option can cost the most over time.

Every Plan and What It Costs

The monthly plan costs $7.99, which Security.org calls reasonable, since many VPNs charge more than $10 on monthly billing. The yearly plan costs $59.88, or $4.99 a month.

A two-year plan also exists. ProPrivacy reports that after the first two years, it renews automatically at $159.80 for each two-year period, well above the first term.

Monthly billing suits short trips or a one-off streaming need. For anything longer, the yearly plan cuts the monthly cost by more than a third.

Renewal and Long-Term Cost

That renewal is the key number to plan around. Over four years, the yearly plan renewed at the same price would usually cost less than the two-year plan after its renewal. Our VPN renewal price guide shows how this compares across providers.

Free Plan or Trial

A free version of the app appears on the App Store, with in-app purchases for premium servers. It suits light use, while paid plans unlock the full network.

Refunds

Check the refund window at checkout before paying, since terms can change. Keep your receipt and the date you subscribed in case you need to claim.

Point Wild’s brands usually publish refund terms on their checkout pages. Read them before paying, and save a copy with the date.

What the Price Includes

Paid plans include the Hydra protocol, which averaged 211 Mbps in Comparitech’s tests, Tor over VPN on every server and P2P on all servers, ProPrivacy and ecommerceparadise report.

Tor over VPN on every server is unusual at this price, and it adds a layer for sensitive browsing. Few rivals include it on all servers.

What It Does Not Cover

The price does not buy an audit of UltraVPN itself, or a brand-specific privacy policy, since it shares one across Point Wild brands.

How UltraVPN’s Price Compares

At $4.99 a month on the yearly plan, UltraVPN costs more than most audited rivals on two-year terms. For comparison, our price table lists Nord Security’s NordVPN from about $3.49 a month and Surfshark from about $2.49, Proton VPN from about $2.99 with a free plan, and PIA from about $2.03, all on two-year terms.

Payment Methods

Paying on the site and in the app can differ in price. Compare both, and check the currency before you confirm.

Keep a record of which plan you chose, since the renewal amount depends on it. A screenshot of the checkout page is enough.

Which Plan to Choose

For most people, the yearly plan offers the clearest value without a large renewal shock. Choose the two-year plan only if you will cancel or switch before it renews.

If you already use Hotspot Shield, note that UltraVPN uses the same Hydra technology, so you are paying for a similar engine at a lower price.

Who Should Pay for UltraVPN

Pay for UltraVPN if you want fast streaming, especially BBC iPlayer, and you accept a US base without its own audit.

Is UltraVPN Worth the Price?

On the yearly plan, UltraVPN is fair value for streaming speed. On the two-year plan, the renewal makes it poor value unless you cancel in time.

Price per Device

Check your plan’s device allowance in the app. Spreading one subscription across several devices lowers the effective monthly cost per device.

The Cheapest Way to Get UltraVPN

The cheapest route is the yearly plan, renewed only if you are happy, or the free app for light use.

Taxes and Currency

Prices shown online often exclude sales tax or VAT, which the checkout adds based on your country. App store prices usually include local tax, so they can look higher.

Who Should Look Elsewhere

If you want an audit at a similar price, our cheap VPN guide lists alternatives.

Coupons and Deals

Discounts usually target the first term. Always compare the renewal price, not just the opening deal.

A deal that lowers the two-year price still leaves the renewal at $159.80 per two years, so judge offers on the full cost.
