This VictoryVPN review covers one of the older privacy services in Europe. VictoryVPN is the new name of Hidden24, a Swedish VPN that its founders say a group of journalists started in the mid-2000s.
It works differently from most VPNs: there is no app. Instead, you enter your login details into your device’s own VPN settings. We explain what that means, what it costs and what we could verify.
VictoryVPN Review: Is It Worth It in 2026?
It may suit you if you prefer a long-running service that says it runs its own hardware, and you are comfortable with manual setup. The no-app approach also avoids installing extra software.
For most people, though, a modern app-based VPN is easier and better documented. VictoryVPN has no audit and no recent independent tests that we could find.
Its founding story, set by journalists concerned about online surveillance, explains the service’s focus on privacy rather than streaming extras. That focus shapes everything else in this review.
What VictoryVPN Costs
A monthly plan costs $5.99, according to whtop’s listing, which links to the Hidden24 pricing page. The listing dates from 2019, so check the current price on the site.
Plans renew automatically unless you cancel. Your bank statement shows the charge as “VictoryVPN (Hidden24)”, the company says. Our VPN refund guide covers cancelling.

Because the main price listing dates from 2019, confirm the current price before paying. Prices and plan lengths may have changed since then.
Set a calendar reminder before renewal if you only want one period. Automatic renewal is the default.
From Hidden24 to VictoryVPN
Since 2008, the company ran two sites: Hidden24.co.uk for UK addresses paid in pounds, and Hidden24.com for US addresses paid in dollars. Customers often logged into the wrong one, the company admits.
To fix that, Hidden24.com became VictoryVPN.com, while Hidden24.co.uk kept its name. Existing connections carried on working, according to the company’s notice.
The founding date varies slightly by page: the company describes the idea as dating from 2005 and gives 2006 as its founding year elsewhere. Founder Fredrik Bernsel is quoted on its blog.
If you used Hidden24 in the past, your login may still work under the new name, the company says. Contact customer service if it does not.
UK users who want a UK address can still use Hidden24.co.uk, which kept its name.
No App, Own Hardware
VictoryVPN uses the VPN client already built into your device, with graphical setup guides. The company argues this uses less battery and never needs updating.
It also says it runs its own hardware in its own data centres rather than rented cloud servers, which removes a layer of outside access, according to VictoryVPN’s own description. We could not verify this independently.
⚠️ “2048-bit” needs context. The site advertises 2048-bit encryption, but that figure usually describes a key-exchange key, not the cipher protecting your traffic. Our guide to VPN protocols explains the difference.

Built-in VPN clients exist on Windows, macOS, iOS and Android. They lack extras such as one-tap server switching, so you change servers by editing settings.
Owning hardware removes one outside party from the chain, which suits privacy. However, it also means the company carries all maintenance and upgrades itself.
Privacy and Jurisdiction
VictoryVPN is based in Stockholm, so Swedish law applies, and Sweden belongs to the Fourteen Eyes group, as our Five Eyes guide explains.
We found no independent audit. Our VPN audit tracker lists providers that have one, including Mullvad, another Swedish service.
A long history counts for something in the VPN market, where many brands come and go. Still, an independent audit would confirm what history alone cannot.
Speed and Streaming
The company’s blog cites a Tech Advisor review praising easy setup and US, UK and Swedish servers that unblocked US Netflix. That review is several years old, so treat it as history rather than a current test.
For current streaming results, see our streaming VPN guide.

Speed with built-in clients depends on the protocol your device supports. Test a nearby server first, then the country you need for streaming.
If a service blocks one server, try another location the company offers, such as its US or UK servers.
Who Should Look Elsewhere
If you want apps with kill switches and audited privacy, a modern provider is the better fit. Our VPN for Sweden guide compares options for Swedish users.
If you want a kill switch built into the app, note that built-in device clients vary in how they handle dropped connections. Test yours before relying on it.

How We Research
For this VictoryVPN review, we read the company’s site, including VictoryVPN’s own description and its renaming notice, plus whtop’s listing, on 21 October 2026. We found no independent recent tests or audit. Our scores weigh speed, security and privacy, streaming, price and ease of use equally. We do not run our own tests. Our full approach lives on the About Us page.

VictoryVPN
Long history, dated approach
VictoryVPN, the former Hidden24, has a long track record, says it runs its own hardware and needs no app. Against that: manual setup, no audit, no recent independent tests and a Fourteen Eyes base.
The Verdict
Our VictoryVPN review finds a long-running Swedish service with an unusual no-app design and a clear history.
It suits people who like manual setup. Most readers will find a modern, audited app-based VPN easier and better proven.
