TunnelBear YouTube use works well for regular YouTube. Top10VPN reached region-locked YouTube content with TunnelBear, and WizCase found speeds fast enough for UHD video. YouTube TV is different: Cybernews found TunnelBear could not unblock it. Regular YouTube checks your location mainly for regional availability, which a VPN changes easily; YouTube TV checks far more strictly.
This guide covers regional videos, YouTube TV, the setup and the free plan’s limits.
What Testers Found
Top10VPN unblocked geo-restricted content on YouTube, along with Disney+ and HBO Max, on the paid plan. WizCase streamed YouTube in UHD. Cybernews found YouTube TV blocked, along with BBC iPlayer and Disney+ in its test.

TunnelBear YouTube Setup
Connect to the country whose videos you want, then open YouTube in a private window or clear its cookies, so it reads the new location. Choose WireGuard for speed. On phones, close and reopen the YouTube app after connecting.

YouTube TV Is Stricter
YouTube TV is a US live TV service that checks location carefully, including your home area. Cybernews found TunnelBear blocked. Our YouTube TV VPN guide compares providers that work.

Data Use
YouTube uses data quickly, especially in HD. The free plan’s 2 GB a month can run out within a few hours of video. Lower the quality setting, or use Unlimited for regular viewing. Our TunnelBear free guide covers the limits.
Ads and Prices by Region
Some people use a VPN to see YouTube content or ads from another country. YouTube Premium prices vary by country, but signing up through another region can breach YouTube’s terms; we do not recommend it.
Why Regular Video Is Easy
Most video platforms check location only to decide which uploads and licences apply in your country. A VPN address in that country is usually enough, which is why testers had little trouble with ordinary videos.
Speed for 4K
WizCase streamed in UHD, and Cybernews kept 83.6% of its speed on a distant UK server. Pick a server near the country you need and use WireGuard for the best chance of smooth 4K.
Phones and Tablets
The mobile apps connect the same way. Close the video app fully after connecting, so it reads the new location rather than a cached one.
Smart TVs
The bear has no TV apps, Holafly notes, so watching on a TV needs a workaround such as a Fire OS stick, as our TunnelBear Firestick guide explains.
A Quick Rule
Regional videos? This VPN works. Live US TV? Pick another provider. Heavy viewing? Unlimited, since 2 GB goes fast.
Checking the Location
After connecting, open our VPN test page to confirm the country. If a video still says it is unavailable, clear cookies and reload.
Leaks and Location
Browsers can reveal location through WebRTC. Run our WebRTC leak guide if videos keep showing your home region.
Kids and Family Profiles
Changing location does not change account settings such as restricted mode or family profiles. Those follow the account, not the address.
Is It Worth Paying For?
For occasional regional clips, the free plan may do. For daily viewing, Unlimited avoids running out of data mid-video.
Kill Switch
VigilantBear stops traffic if the tunnel drops, which matters less for videos than for privacy, but keeps your real location hidden mid-session.
Several Devices
Unlimited sets no device limit, so phones, tablets and laptops can all connect at once, each to a different country if needed. That suits households watching different regional content.
Testing on the Free Plan
Use the free plan’s 2 GB to try a few region-locked clips before paying. Lower the quality to stretch the allowance, then decide whether Unlimited is worth it.
Quick Check
Search for a clip you know is limited to one country. If it plays after connecting there, the setup works.
Keeping It Updated
After app updates, confirm your protocol and VigilantBear stayed the same before a long viewing session.
Music and Shorts
Music videos and short clips follow the same regional rules as longer videos. Connect before opening the app, and reopen it if a clip shows as unavailable. Some music labels restrict videos country by country.
Live Streams
Live events on regular channels sometimes carry regional limits. A server in the right country usually works, but test before the event starts.
Comments and Accounts
Your account history and comments stay with your account whatever the server. A VPN changes the address only, not who is signed in, so sign out first if you want a fresh, unpersonalised view.

TunnelBear’s Record
TunnelBear has had annual Cure53 audits since 2017 and belongs to McAfee, our tables record. Its free plan gives 2 GB a month, and Unlimited sets no device limit. Our TunnelBear safety guide covers the full picture.
How We Research
This page draws on Top10VPN’s July 2026 TunnelBear review, WizCase’s August 2026 review, Cybernews’ TunnelBear review and our TunnelBear tables. We cross-checked these sources against each other, and where they conflict or something can’t be verified, we say so in the text rather than guessing. We checked time-sensitive figures, including prices in US dollars, on 7 October 2026. The main source we relied on is Top10VPN’s TunnelBear review. Our full approach lives on the About Us page.
