TorGuard vs VyprVPN compares providers built to get past VPN blocks. VyprVPN, now owned by Certida, uses its proprietary Chameleon protocol and owns its servers, but its only audit dates from 2018, fahimai notes. TorGuard offers several Stealth protocols plus a Stealth proxy, port forwarding and plans for up to 30 devices, Security.org notes, and has no independent no-logs audit.
This guide compares stealth tools, evidence, torrenting, devices, price and fit.
TorGuard vs VyprVPN on Stealth
At home, neither stealth mode is needed.
Chameleon scrambles packet metadata so networks struggle to recognise VPN traffic, Impulsec notes. TorGuard’s Stealth options include SSTP, OpenVPN obfuscation and OpenConnect, and paired with its Stealth proxy they got past firewalls in China, Russia and Turkey in TechRepublic’s test.
TorGuard has the more specific test results from the hardest networks; VyprVPN’s Chameleon is simpler to switch on.

TorGuard vs VyprVPN on Evidence
VyprVPN’s 2018 report was among the first of its kind.
Ownership changes are a reason to want fresh audits.
VyprVPN was among the first VPNs to publish a no-logs audit, in 2018, but has had none since, including after Certida bought it. TorGuard has no independent no-logs audit, fahimai notes.
Neither offers current outside proof. Our VPN audit tracker lists providers that do.
Torrenting and Devices
Secure any service you expose through an open port.
TorGuard lets you request open ports from its dashboard, Security.org notes, which helps torrent clients, though it blocks BitTorrent on US servers under a 2022 settlement. We found no port forwarding for VyprVPN in our sources.
Torrent users should pick TorGuard on a non-US server.
A router counts as one device on either.
TorGuard’s plans cover 8, 12 or 30 devices, Security.org lists. Recent reviews list 10 devices for VyprVPN, while older ones mention 30.
Check current limits at checkout before buying for a large household.
Price
Check the checkout line.
Set a reminder before renewal if you plan to switch.
Introductory prices hide the real cost, so compare renewals.
VyprVPN costs about $3 a month on two years, with some sites listing $10 monthly, fahimai notes. TorGuard starts around $10.99 a month, and its three-year Pro plan works out to $6.94 a month, Security.org notes.
VyprVPN is clearly cheaper. Our renewal price guide compares renewals.

Apps and Features
TorGuard’s dedicated IPs suit sites that block shared VPN addresses.
Test any kill switch by switching Wi-Fi off and on while connected.
TorGuard has no split tunnelling or multi-hop, Security.org notes, but offers two kinds of kill switch and dedicated IPs. VyprVPN supports WireGuard, OpenVPN and IKEv2 alongside Chameleon, Impulsec notes.
For everyday use, WireGuard on either is the fast default.
Servers and Owners
Certida’s purchase came after VyprVPN’s only audit.
Owned servers give physical control, but only audits show what they keep.
VyprVPN owns its servers rather than renting them, fahimai notes, and Certida owns VyprVPN. VPNetworks LLC runs TorGuard from Florida.
Ownership changes are a reason to want fresh audits. Our VPN ownership guide explains why.
Who Each Is For
Both work best for people who know which network problem they face.
TorGuard suits technical users who want stealth proxies, open ports and many devices. VyprVPN suits travellers who want simple, switch-on obfuscation at a lower price, accepting an audit record that stops in 2018.
Test either from the network you will actually use.

Routers, Streaming and Support
Routers count once.
TorGuard offers an OpenWrt app that sets up WireGuard through its API, our tables record. VyprVPN’s Chameleon is available on routers as well as Windows, Mac and Android, ProPrivacy notes.
Both can protect a whole home from the router, including devices without apps.
TorGuard’s Pro plan includes a streaming IP, TechRepublic notes, and it offers email, help-desk and phone support, its Capterra listing says. We found no recent streaming tests for VyprVPN in our sources.
Test any service you need within the refund window.
Linux
A router running TorGuard can also cover Linux machines without an app.
TorGuard offers a Linux app with WireGuard, our tables record. We found no clear Linux app details for VyprVPN in our recent sources, so check its download page before buying.
Linux users should confirm support first.
Buying
Look for the renewal price, not only the first bill.
Nearly every TorGuard review flags its checkout as confusing, fahimai notes. VyprVPN’s pricing is simpler, though some sites list $10 monthly or $60 a year rather than the $3 two-year rate.
Confirm the final price on the order page before paying.
Who Should Avoid Both
Pick by the network you face.
Anyone who needs audited proof of a no-logs policy should look at providers with repeated outside checks; our audit tracker lists them. Neither TorGuard nor VyprVPN has a recent independent no-logs report. For a head-to-head, see our VyprVPN vs Astrill comparison.
Both remain useful for getting past blocks.
How We Research
This page draws on Security.org’s and TechRepublic’s TorGuard reviews, fahimai’s TorGuard and VyprVPN coverage and Impulsec’s VyprVPN review. We cross-checked these sources against each other, and where they conflict or something can’t be verified, we say so in the text rather than guessing. We checked time-sensitive figures, including prices in US dollars, on 8 October 2026. The main source we relied on is Security.org’s TorGuard review. Our full approach lives on the About Us page.
