PureVPN vs VyprVPN compares a budget service with recent audits and a VPN built around getting past blocks. PureVPN, based in the British Virgin Islands and operated from Pakistan, has four KPMG audits in our table, allows 10 devices and renews at $47.95 a year. VyprVPN has one audit, by Leviathan Security in 2018, before Certida LLC of Texas bought it in 2023. It offers its own Chameleon protocol for blocked networks, but Tom’s Guide found its kill switch let apps with their own DNS settings send requests outside the tunnel, and BitsFromBytes found Netflix blocked it on 16 of 22 libraries in June 2026.
This guide compares them on privacy, streaming, price and fit.
PureVPN vs VyprVPN on Privacy
PureVPN’s four KPMG audits give more recent evidence than VyprVPN’s single 2018 audit, which predates its sale to Certida. Our VyprVPN safety guide covers its record.

Price
PureVPN costs about $2.15 a month on two years, around $52 up front, and renews at $47.95 a year on its order page; its deals page lists $54.95. VyprVPN lists $10 a month or $60 a year, with promotions lower. Our PureVPN price guide covers its grids.

Streaming
PureVPN offers streaming-optimised servers; Wizcase found its Disney+ servers worked reliably. BitsFromBytes found Netflix blocked VyprVPN on 16 of 22 libraries in June 2026.
Torrenting
PureVPN offers a SOCKS5 proxy, as our PureVPN SOCKS5 guide explains. We found no SOCKS5 proxy at VyprVPN, though it allows P2P, as our VyprVPN SOCKS5 guide notes.
Devices and Refunds
PureVPN allows 10 devices, up to 50 with a paid add-on, and refunds within 31 days. Sources disagree on VyprVPN’s device limit, five or ten; it refunds within 30 days on a first purchase.

PureVPN vs VyprVPN on Blocked Networks
VyprVPN’s Chameleon protocol targets networks that block VPNs. Check PureVPN’s app for its current obfuscation options, and test either before travelling. Our obfuscation guide explains how disguise works.
Kill Switch
Tom’s Guide found VyprVPN’s kill switch let apps with custom DNS send requests outside the tunnel. PureVPN’s apps include a kill switch; test either by switching Wi-Fi off and on while connected.
Split Tunnelling
PureVPN offers split tunnelling in its Fire TV and Android TV apps, its release notes say. VyprVPN’s Connection Per App works on Windows.
Is PureVPN vs VyprVPN a Close Call?
On audits and price, no: PureVPN leads. PureVPN vs VyprVPN tightens only for users on blocked networks who need Chameleon.
Speed
Tom’s Guide found VyprVPN’s servers grouped in seven hubs; pick the nearest. PureVPN runs WireGuard in its apps. Test both on your own line during the refund window.
Several Devices
PureVPN’s 10 devices, extendable to 50, suit large homes. VyprVPN’s limit is disputed, so check the plan page.
Streaming Servers
Wizcase found PureVPN’s macOS app lists more streaming shortcuts than its Windows app, and its Disney+ servers worked reliably. VyprVPN does not market streaming servers.
Quick Check
After installing either, run our DNS leak guide and test the kill switch by switching Wi-Fi off and on.
Testing Both
PureVPN’s 31-day refund and seven-day paid trial give time to test. VyprVPN’s 30-day guarantee covers a first purchase only.
Who Each Suits
PureVPN suits budget buyers with many devices who want recent audits. VyprVPN suits users who face blocked networks and value Chameleon over price.
Keeping It Updated
After app updates, recheck the kill switch and protocol on both.
Renewal
PureVPN renews at $47.95 a year on its order page, though its deals page lists $54.95. VyprVPN lists $60 a year; compare the renewal lines at checkout.
Support
Check each provider’s support channels during the refund window with a question about your own device or network, and keep the reply.
Quick Rule
Audits, low renewal and many devices: PureVPN. Chameleon for blocked networks: VyprVPN. Either way, test within the refund window.
Free Options
Neither offers a free plan. PureVPN’s seven-day trial is paid; VyprVPN offers only its 30-day guarantee on a first purchase.
Families
PureVPN’s 10 devices, or up to 50 with the add-on, cover large households. Check VyprVPN’s limit on its plan page before buying.
Privacy on Public Wi-Fi
Both encrypt traffic on shared networks. Turn the kill switch on before connecting to hotel or café Wi-Fi. Our public Wi-Fi guide explains the risks.
Linux
VyprVPN recommends its WireGuard Go client on Linux, as our VyprVPN Linux guide explains. Check PureVPN’s Linux pages before relying on them for a home server or a Raspberry Pi.
Ownership
PureVPN operates from Pakistan under a BVI company. VyprVPN belongs to Certida LLC of Texas, which bought it from Golden Frog in 2023. Our VPN ownership guide explains why ownership matters.
Who Should Pick Which
Pick PureVPN for audits, a low renewal and many devices. Pick VyprVPN if its Chameleon protocol solves a network block.
How We Research
This page draws on our audit, device, price and refund tables, Tom’s Guide’s VyprVPN review, BitsFromBytes, Wizcase and our PureVPN and VyprVPN guides. We cross-checked these sources against each other, and where they conflict or something can’t be verified, we say so in the text rather than guessing. We checked time-sensitive figures, including prices in US dollars, on 8 October 2026. The main source we relied on is Tom’s Guide’s VyprVPN review. Our full approach lives on the About Us page.
