Is VictoryVPN safe? It has something rare among small VPNs: a long track record. VictoryVPN is the new name of Hidden24, which its founders say journalists started in the mid-2000s.
It also says it runs its own hardware rather than rented cloud servers. The open questions are an audit and its Swedish base. Our VictoryVPN review covers the no-app setup.
Is VictoryVPN Safe? No Audit
We found no independent audit of VictoryVPN. Its privacy rests on a long history and its own description of its infrastructure.
Longevity counts for something: a service that has operated for many years has had time to show its colours. It still does not replace an outside check.

Sweden
VictoryVPN is based in Stockholm, so Swedish law applies. Sweden belongs to the Fourteen Eyes group, as our Five Eyes guide explains.
Mullvad, another Swedish VPN, shows that a Swedish base and strong privacy can coexist, but Mullvad backs its claims with audits.
Security Tools
VictoryVPN says it runs its own hardware in its own data centres, not in the cloud, according to VictoryVPN’s own description. That removes the cloud provider as a party with access to the machines.
There is no app: you use your device’s built-in VPN client with the company’s setup guides. That avoids extra software, which some users see as a security benefit.

Built-in clients receive updates through your operating system, so they stay current without a separate app.
Weak Points
Built-in clients vary in how they handle dropped connections, so there may be no kill switch on some devices. The site’s “2048-bit” claim also needs context, since that figure usually describes a key-exchange key rather than the cipher.
Without an app, you also lose extras such as automatic reconnection or leak protection that modern VPN apps include.
None of this makes VictoryVPN unsafe for daily use; it means the setup matters more than with a modern app.
Settings Worth Turning On
Use the most modern protocol your device offers in its built-in VPN settings, such as IKEv2. Turn on any always-on VPN option your operating system provides.
On iPhone and Android, set the VPN profile to connect on demand where available, to reduce gaps.

Is VictoryVPN Safe for Torrenting?
Check VictoryVPN’s terms for P2P, and remember that built-in clients may lack a kill switch. Our torrenting VPN guide lists options with one.
On Public Wi-Fi
Yes, while connected, using IKEv2 or similar. Turn on always-on VPN where your device supports it.
Turn the VPN on before joining a public network’s login page where possible, then confirm the connection.
Refunds and Payment
Plans renew automatically, and the charge appears as “VictoryVPN (Hidden24)” on bank statements, the company says.
Set a reminder before renewal if you only want one period, since plans renew automatically.
Compared With Rivals
Audited providers offer stronger proof: NordVPN has 6 audits in our table and Proton VPN 5. VictoryVPN has none, though its history is long.
Swedish users who want audits can turn to Mullvad, a local alternative with 10+ audits in our table.
Is VictoryVPN Safe Enough for You?
Is VictoryVPN safe enough for you? For everyday use with careful setup, yes. For high-risk work, the Fourteen Eyes base and missing audit favour an audited provider.
What Would Change the Answer
An independent audit of its hardware and logging would change our answer most.
An app with a built-in kill switch would also help, since it would remove the gap that built-in clients leave on some devices. That is the single change we would most like to see.
In Restrictive Countries
Built-in clients rarely include obfuscation, so VictoryVPN may struggle on networks that block VPNs. Our guide to VPN legality in China explains the legal side.
Several Devices
Configure each device separately in its built-in VPN settings, following the company’s guides.
Keep a list of which devices have the profile installed, since there is no app dashboard to show them.
Streaming Safety
The company cites an older Tech Advisor review that found US Netflix working; treat that as history, not a current test.
Test streaming on its US, UK and Swedish servers yourself, since the cited review is several years old.
Keeping It Updated
Keep your operating system updated, since built-in VPN clients receive security fixes through system updates.
Check the company’s status page for outages before troubleshooting your own setup.
Getting Help
Customer service runs by email; the company also publishes setup guides with screenshots.
Ask support which protocols each server supports before configuring older devices.
Testing It Yourself
After setup, run a leak test using our guide to checking if a VPN is working, then toggle your Wi-Fi to see how the connection recovers.
Repeat the test after operating system updates, since VPN settings occasionally reset.
