TunnelBear Netflix results split testers in 2026, and where it fails, the error misleads. Top10VPN and WizCase reached US Netflix on the paid plan, and TheBestVPN did too, though not other regions. Cloudwards found in September 2026 that Netflix had blocklisted TunnelBear’s US addresses, with logins failing on an incorrect password error. Gizmodo’s 2026 Netflix guide lists TunnelBear among VPNs that do not work reliably.
This guide covers the findings, the confusing error and better options for Netflix.
What Testers Found
Worked: Top10VPN, July 2026, US Netflix on the paid plan but no other libraries; WizCase, August 2026, Netflix working; TheBestVPN, September 2026, US Netflix but not other regions. Failed: Cloudwards, September 2026, US IPs blocked; TechRadar, not unblocked; Gizmodo, not reliable; VPNOverview, no streaming.
Taken together, US Netflix may work on some days and servers, and other libraries rarely do.

TunnelBear Netflix and the Incorrect Password Error
Cloudwards saw Netflix reject correct login details with an incorrect password message while connected to TunnelBear. That is a block, not a problem with your account. Disconnect TunnelBear and sign in normally; your password is fine.

Your Home Library
Some people want a VPN while watching their own country’s Netflix, for privacy on public Wi-Fi. If Netflix blocks the address, that fails too. Split tunnelling on Windows and Android can leave the Netflix app outside the VPN while other apps stay protected. Our split tunnelling guide explains how.
Fixes Worth Trying
Connect before opening the streaming app, close it fully if it was open, and clear its cache or the browser’s cookies. Try another server in the same country. If the service still detects the VPN, its block list likely covers that address range. Our Netflix VPN guide explains how detection works.
Why Results Swing
Streaming services keep lists of address ranges they link to VPN servers. When a provider’s range lands on the list, logins fail until the provider rotates addresses. Providers focused on streaming market that rotation; the bear-themed service does not, which may explain why testers’ results swing.
Public Wi-Fi Viewing
If you want privacy while watching on hotel Wi-Fi, split tunnelling on Windows or Android can leave the streaming app outside the tunnel while other apps stay protected. On Mac and iPhone that option is not available in our guides.
Other Services
Cloudwards reached Peacock and Max, but not Prime Video, Hulu, Disney+ or BBC iPlayer. Our TunnelBear Disney+ guide covers Disney+ in more detail.
A Quick Rule
Need another country’s catalogue? Pick NordVPN, Surfshark or Proton VPN. Just protecting yourself on public Wi-Fi? Split tunnel the streaming app. Seeing a password error? Disconnect the VPN; your account is fine.
Free Plan Limits
The bear’s free tier gives 2 GB a month, which a couple of HD episodes can use up. Cloudwards also notes the free plan lacks city-level choice in the US and Canada. For streaming, a paid provider that unblocks services is the realistic choice.
Checking for Leaks
If the streaming app shows your home catalogue while the VPN is on, run our DNS leak guide and our WebRTC leak guide to rule out leaks before switching providers.
Will This Change?
Access shifts as services update block lists, which is why 2026 testers disagree. Check the newest reviews and test on your own network before relying on it.
Several Devices
Unlimited sets no device limit, so every phone and laptop can stay protected while streaming happens outside the tunnel or through another service.
Quick Check
If the streaming app shows a password error with the VPN on, disconnect and sign in again. If it then works, the error was the block, not your account.
Browser or App
The website and the app both check your address. If the service blocks one, it usually blocks the other too, so switching between them rarely helps once it blocklists the range. A private window can rule out cookie problems, though.
Keeping Expectations Realistic
The bear-themed service focuses on simple privacy, audited annually. Streaming has never been its main pitch, so choose a service whose recent reviews consistently show the libraries you want.
Testing Yourself
Try the free plan once on two US servers. If both show the password error, the block applies for you right now; if one works, you are on a server Netflix has not flagged yet.
Providers That Work With Netflix
TechRadar’s 2026 testing reached Netflix in the US, UK, Australia, Canada and Japan with NordVPN, ExpressVPN, Surfshark and Proton VPN. Our NordVPN Netflix guide and Surfshark Netflix guide cover two; NordVPN and Surfshark share an owner, Nord Security.

Free Alternatives
If price drew you to TunnelBear, Top10VPN rates PrivadoVPN’s free plan the best free option for Netflix, with US and UK working in its test. Our PrivadoVPN Netflix guide covers it.
TunnelBear’s Record
TunnelBear has had annual Cure53 audits since 2017 and belongs to McAfee, our tables record. Its free plan gives 2 GB a month, and Unlimited sets no device limit. Our TunnelBear safety guide covers the full picture.
How We Research
This page draws on Cloudwards’ September 2026 TunnelBear review, TechRadar’s and VPNOverview’s TunnelBear reviews, Gizmodo’s and Top10VPN’s 2026 Netflix guides and our TunnelBear tables. We cross-checked these sources against each other, and where they conflict or something can’t be verified, we say so in the text rather than guessing. We checked time-sensitive figures, including prices in US dollars, on 7 October 2026. The main source we relied on is Cloudwards’ TunnelBear review. Our full approach lives on the About Us page.

The Verdict
TunnelBear Netflix access is hit and miss: US Netflix sometimes, other libraries rarely, and a misleading error when Netflix blocks it. Test it, and use a streaming-focused provider if Netflix matters.
