This guide compares them on privacy, devices, price, features and fit.
PureVPN vs StrongVPN on Privacy
PureVPN’s four KPMG audits give outside evidence for its no-logs claim. StrongVPN has none in our table. Ziff Davis also owns IPVanish, PCMag and CNET, our ownership table records. Our VPN audit tracker explains what audits check.

Price and Renewal
PureVPN costs about $2.15 a month on two years, around $52 up front, and renews at $47.95 a year; its deals page lists $54.95. StrongVPN costs $11.99 a month or $47.69 for the first year and renews at about $89.99, Security.org lists. Over several years, PureVPN costs less. Our StrongVPN price guide covers its plans.

Devices
StrongVPN allows 12 devices, PureVPN 10, or up to 50 with an add-on. A router counts as one device on both.
Smart DNS and TVs
StrongDNS comes free with every StrongVPN plan, ProPrivacy notes, and suits TVs and consoles without VPN apps. StrongVPN has no Android TV or Apple TV app, Top10VPN found. PureVPN offers Fire TV and Android TV apps with split tunnelling, its release notes say. Our StrongVPN DNS guide covers StrongDNS.
Servers
StrongVPN runs 650 to 950+ owned, physical servers in 30 to 44 countries, depending on the source, as our StrongVPN server list guide explains. PureVPN runs streaming-optimised servers in its apps.
Torrenting
PureVPN offers a SOCKS5 proxy, as our PureVPN SOCKS5 guide explains. StrongVPN allows P2P on all servers, Fahimai notes.

Ownership
PureVPN operates from Pakistan under a company registered in the British Virgin Islands. StrongVPN has belonged to Ziff Davis since its purchase of the brand. Our VPN ownership guide explains why ownership matters.
Speed
Fahimai measured 5 to 7% speed loss on nearby StrongVPN servers. PureVPN runs WireGuard in its apps. Test both on your own line during the refund window, at the time you usually stream.
Dedicated IPs
PureVPN sells dedicated IPs as an add-on. Sources disagree on whether StrongVPN still sells one, as our StrongVPN dedicated IP guide explains.
Linux
StrongVPN’s WireGuard configs work on Linux, as our StrongVPN Linux guide explains. Check PureVPN’s Linux pages before relying on them for a home server.
Several Countries
StrongVPN covers 30 to 44 countries depending on the source. Travellers to smaller markets should check its list before paying; PureVPN’s country list is in its apps.
Quick Rule
Audits and a low renewal: PureVPN. Twelve devices and free Smart DNS: StrongVPN. Test either within its refund window, and note the renewal line at checkout before paying.
Privacy on Public Wi-Fi
Both encrypt traffic on café and hotel networks. Turn the kill switch on first, and connect before signing in to anything. Our public Wi-Fi guide explains the risks.
Keeping It Updated
After app updates, recheck the kill switch and protocol on both, since updates can reset them.
Who Each Suits
PureVPN suits budget buyers who want audits, streaming servers and room for many devices with the add-on. StrongVPN suits households with several TVs and consoles that benefit from free Smart DNS and 12 devices out of the box.
Support
Check each provider’s support channels during the refund window, especially for router or TV setups.
Quick Check
After installing either, run our DNS leak guide and confirm your address changed.
Streaming
PureVPN’s apps include streaming shortcuts, and Wizcase found its Disney+ servers worked reliably. StrongDNS reached BBC iPlayer and Channel 4 in ProPrivacy’s test, while Cloudwards later found StrongVPN missed Hulu and iPlayer.
Families
Twelve devices on StrongVPN or 10 on PureVPN cover most homes; PureVPN’s add-on stretches to 50.
Kill Switch
StrongVPN’s desktop kill switch starts off, Top10VPN found, so turn it on after installing. PureVPN’s apps include one too; test either by switching Wi-Fi off and on while connected.
Refunds
PureVPN refunds within 31 days; StrongVPN offers a 30-day guarantee, our refund guide records. Test streaming, speed and your TVs within those windows.
Is PureVPN vs StrongVPN a Close Call?
On features, yes. On evidence and long-term cost, PureVPN leads. StrongVPN’s case rests on 12 devices and free Smart DNS for TV-heavy homes.

How We Research
This page draws on our audit, ownership, device, price and refund tables, Security.org’s StrongVPN pricing, ProPrivacy, Top10VPN, Fahimai and our PureVPN and StrongVPN guides. We cross-checked these sources against each other, and where they conflict or something can’t be verified, we say so in the text rather than guessing. We checked time-sensitive figures, including prices in US dollars, on 8 October 2026. The main source we relied on is Security.org’s StrongVPN guide. Our full approach lives on the About Us page.
