Astrill server list figures vary by source. Its App Store listing describes servers in more than 60 countries. Its Android listing from late 2025 says more than 300 servers in over 50 countries, on 1 or 10 Gbit links. Comparitech counted 56 countries. A review syndicated on inkl found decent Western European coverage but thin coverage of Africa, Asia and South America. VIP servers, a paid add-on, promise faster speeds, Cloudwards notes.

How Big Is the Network?
Astrill’s own listings disagree slightly: 60+ countries on the App Store, 50+ on Android with 300+ servers. Comparitech reported 56 countries, with 106 cities in one version of its guide and 140+ in another. Expect around 50 to 60 countries and a few hundred servers, smaller than the networks of NordVPN and Surfshark, which share an owner, Nord Security.
Regional Coverage
The inkl review found multiple locations in the UK, France and Germany, but limited choice in Africa, Asia and South America. If you need a server in a specific country, check the app’s list before paying.
VIP Servers
Cloudwards describes VIP access as a $10-a-month add-on that brings faster speeds and multi-hop connections. It suits heavy users in China who want less congestion. Test the standard servers first during a trial, as our Astrill free guide explains, before paying extra.
Picking the Right Server
For China, choose StealthVPN and a server near the region you need; GreatFirewallGuide rated Astrill 98% on China Telecom’s CN2 GIA network. Netflix users need US servers, Top10VPN found, because Astrill redirects other regions to the US. For everyday speed, pick the nearest server with WireGuard. Reading the Astrill Server List in the App
The app groups servers by country and city. Mark the ones you use as favourites so switching takes one click. For China use, keep a few servers near the region you need, since congestion changes through the day.
Server Load and Speed
The inkl review measured about 56 Mbps on a UK server over OpenWeb against 70 Mbps without a VPN. Top10VPN noted strong long-distance speeds. Test two or three servers on the Astrill server list at your busiest time and keep the fastest.
Smaller Than Rivals
A few hundred servers is small next to the largest providers, which run thousands. That matters less for China, where Astrill’s routing counts more, and more for users who need many countries. Our Astrill OpenVPN guide covers the protocol used for P2P.
A Quick Rule
In China? Pick StealthVPN and nearby regions. Want US Netflix? Use a US server. Need a specific country in Africa or South America? Check the Astrill server list in the app before paying.
Servers and Devices
Astrill’s pricing page promises unlimited devices in a household, while reviewers report five; check current terms. A router running Astrill counts as one connection and reaches every device behind it, as our Astrill router guide explains.
Checking a Server
After connecting, confirm the address with our VPN test page. The country shown should match the server you picked. If it does not, the location may route through another country.
Astrill Server List for Travellers
If you travel, check the Astrill server list for servers near your destination and near home before you leave. Home servers keep banking and streaming consistent; nearby ones keep speeds up. Install and test before you travel to China, since Astrill’s site may be hard to reach there.
Testing Before You Pay
Ask for Astrill’s trial and test the servers you need on your own network. Refunds are disputed between reviewers, so a trial is the safer test.
Quick Check
Connect to three servers in turn and note the speed and address of each. Keep the best as a favourite.
Several Devices
Each device can use a different server from the list, so a phone in China and a laptop at home can each pick what suits them.
Protocols by Server
All four protocols run across the network, but OpenVPN is not available for connections in China, VPNOverview notes. Smart Mode, which routes local sites outside the VPN, works only with OpenWeb.
Torrenting Servers

Astrill’s Record
No source we read found an independent audit of Astrill, and vpnrating notes its own OpenWeb and StealthVPN protocols are closed-source. Tom’s Guide reports Astrill keeps active-session data and records of its last twenty connections. Its pricing page lists $30 a month or $180 a year, as our Astrill price guide explains.
