Astrill Netflix results point one way: the US library works for most testers, other regions mostly do not. Top10VPN reached US Netflix on its first attempt and heard from Astrill’s support that it redirects other regions to the US by design. Comparitech managed only the US, and another review failed in Canada, the UK, Japan and Australia. Two sources differ: Tom’s Guide reported the UK working, and Gizmodo found even US Netflix unreliable in 2026.
This guide covers the results, the fixes and better options for other libraries.
What the Tests Found
Top10VPN: US Netflix worked first time, and when it asked why Australian servers showed the US catalogue, Astrill’s support said Netflix is not supported there and traffic is redirected to the US. Comparitech: only the US worked. An independent review syndicated on inkl: US worked; Canada, the UK, Japan and Australia did not. Our guide to Astrill Server List covers network size, coverage and VIP servers.
Tom’s Guide’s UK review lists Netflix US and UK and BBC iPlayer as working. Gizmodo’s 2026 comparison found Astrill struggled with Netflix US and BBC iPlayer even with Smart Mode.

Other US Services
Top10VPN found Astrill consistently unblocked Hulu, Peacock and Paramount+ on all its US servers, while other services were hit and miss. Comparitech adds that Astrill mostly works with US-based streaming sites. Our Hulu VPN guide covers that service.
Astrill Netflix Fixes
Connect to a US server before opening Netflix, and close the app or browser tab fully first. Clear Netflix’s cookies or app cache. Try another US server if you see a proxy error. Turn off Smart Mode for Netflix, since it routes some sites outside the VPN. Comparitech also suggests reinstalling Astrill if nothing works.

Speed for Streaming
The inkl review measured about 56 Mbps on Astrill’s UK server over OpenWeb against 70 Mbps without a VPN, enough for HD. Top10VPN noted strong long-distance speeds. Choose a server near the US East or West Coast depending on where you are.
Why People Still Choose Astrill
Astrill’s strength is China. GreatFirewallGuide rated it 98% on China Telecom’s CN2 GIA network, and Top10VPN says its StealthVPN protocol bypassed the Great Firewall on every attempt. If you live in China and want US Netflix, Astrill can do both. Our China VPN guide covers that use.
Testing Before You Pay
Top10VPN describes Astrill as the most expensive VPN it reviews, with no refunds, and reviewers disagree on refunds generally. Ask for Astrill’s free trial before paying, as our Astrill free guide explains, and test US Netflix on your own network during it.
Netflix on TVs
Astrill has no TV apps for Apple TV or Fire TV in the sources we read. To watch Astrill Netflix results on a TV, run Astrill on a supported router, as our Astrill router guide explains, or use VPN Sharing from a Windows PC.
Smart Mode and Netflix
Smart Mode routes local sites outside the VPN, which suits users in China. For Netflix, turn it off or check that Smart Mode does not exclude Netflix, so the service sees the US server.
A Quick Rule
In China and want US Netflix? Astrill is a reasonable pick. Outside China and want several libraries? Choose a provider that opens more of them. Unsure? Test on the trial before paying.
Astrill Netflix on Phones
Astrill’s iPhone and Android apps connect the same way. Connect to a US server first, then open the Netflix app. If it shows the wrong catalogue, close it fully and reopen it. Our Astrill iPhone guide covers the iOS app.
Checking the Library
Search for a title you know is US-only. If it appears, you are on the US library. If not, switch US server and clear the app’s cache before trying again.
Price for Netflix
Astrill’s pricing page lists $30 a month or $180 a year, with a VIP add-on from $10 a month. For US Netflix alone, that is a high price; it makes more sense when you also need China access.
Quick Check
After connecting, open our VPN test page in the browser you stream from and confirm it shows a US address before opening Netflix.
Devices
Astrill’s pricing page promises unlimited devices in a household, while reviewers report five. Check the current terms before setting up Netflix on several phones, laptops and a router, since reviewers and Astrill’s own page give different numbers.
VPN Sharing for Other Screens
Astrill’s Windows client includes VPN Sharing, TechRadar notes, which lets other devices use the PC’s connection.
Better Options for Other Libraries
For the UK, Japan, Canada or Australia, a provider that opens many libraries is more practical. Our Netflix VPN guide compares them.

Astrill’s Record
Tom’s Guide reports Astrill keeps active-session data, such as connection time, IP address and device type, and the records of its last twenty connections. No source we read found an independent audit. Our Astrill price guide covers what it costs.
How We Research
This page draws on Top10VPN’s, Comparitech’s, Tom’s Guide’s and Gizmodo’s Astrill coverage, a review syndicated on inkl, GreatFirewallGuide and our Astrill tables. We cross-checked these sources against each other, and where they conflict or something can’t be verified, we say so in the text rather than guessing. We checked time-sensitive figures, including prices in US dollars, on 7 October 2026. The main source we relied on is Top10VPN’s Astrill review. Our full approach lives on the About Us page.
Astrill Netflix FAQ
US Netflix worked for most testers; other libraries mostly failed.
Astrill’s support told Top10VPN it redirects Netflix to the US.
Sources disagree; Tom’s Guide said yes, others said no.
Top10VPN found it worked on all US servers.
For US Netflix, possibly; its strength is bypassing the Great Firewall.
The Verdict
Astrill Netflix use makes sense mainly for the US library, especially from China. For other regions, choose a provider that opens more libraries.
