PotatoVPN alternatives make sense if you want an audit or a single, clearly named company behind your VPN. PotatoVPN passed VPNCentral’s leak tests, but several company names appear across its listings, and no audit exists.
The services below suit PotatoVPN’s main uses, gaming and free browsing, with outside checks behind them. Our PotatoVPN review covers what you would leave behind.
PotatoVPN Alternatives for Streaming: NordVPN or Surfshark
PotatoVPN has streaming servers, but published results are limited. NordVPN has 6 audits in our table and allows 10 devices, while Surfshark, which Nord Security also owns, sets no device limit and has 2 audits.

For Audited Privacy and a Free Plan: Proton VPN
PotatoVPN has no audit, and its free sessions are time-limited. Proton VPN has 5 Securitum audits in our table and a free plan with no data cap, and its paid plans start around $2.99 a month on two years.
For Torrenting: PIA
We found no clear P2P policy for PotatoVPN. PIA offers port forwarding, 3 Deloitte audits in our table and unlimited devices, from about $2.03 a month on two years.
For Strict Privacy: Mullvad
If several company names worry you, Mullvad is a single Swedish company with a long audit record. Mullvad has 10+ audits in our table and lets you sign up without an email, at about $5.40 a month with no long-term plans.
For Lower Prices: PureVPN or CyberGhost
PotatoVPN Premium costs $71.99 a year in the App Store, above several audited budget plans. PureVPN starts around $2.15 a month with 4 KPMG audits in our table, and CyberGhost around $2.19 with 3 Deloitte audits and a 45-day refund window.

For TVs and Routers
PotatoVPN focuses on phones and computers. For TVs, NordVPN and Surfshark have native apps, while a router such as ExpressVPN’s Aircove covers every device at once, as our guide to a VPN for smart TV explains.
Price Comparison
PotatoVPN costs $11.99 a month or $71.99 a year in the App Store. The alternatives above run from free to about $5.40 a month in our price table.
Compare yearly totals, not monthly headlines. App store prices often include tax.
Free or Paid
PotatoVPN’s free plan offers six countries with timed sessions, so an uncapped audited free plan is a real upgrade. Proton VPN’s free plan has no data cap, and Windscribe’s free tier offers up to 15 GB, our refund table notes. Both providers publish audits.
Light users can stay free. Gamers usually benefit from a paid plan with more servers.
A Quick Rule
Gaming with low ping? NordVPN. Free and audited? Proton VPN. Many devices? Surfshark. Seeding torrents? PIA.
Whichever you choose, test your game’s ping before committing, since server distance matters more than brand for gaming.
Switching Without a Gap
Install the new VPN first, then cancel PotatoVPN Premium in your app store if you bought it there. Deleting the app does not cancel it.
Several Devices
Check PotatoVPN’s device allowance in the app, then compare: NordVPN allows 10, Surfshark and PIA set no limit, and Mullvad allows 5, our device table records.
Count consoles and PCs as well as phones.
Families
Gaming households benefit from Surfshark’s unlimited devices, since consoles, PCs and phones all count.
Keeping Protection Running
If you used PotatoVPN’s gaming servers, test your games’ ping on the new VPN’s nearest server first. Keep your old VPN until the new one works on every device, then remove it, so two VPN apps do not compete for the connection.
Testing an Alternative
Our guide to checking if a VPN is working covers the leak test; also compare your game’s ping with and without each VPN.
Test at peak gaming hours. Evening servers are busier, and that is when lag shows.
Ownership
Nord Security owns NordVPN and Surfshark, and Kape owns PIA, CyberGhost and ExpressVPN. Proton VPN and Mullvad are independent companies. PotatoVPN appears under FASTPOTATO PTE. LTD., FREE VPN POTATO PTE. LTD. and Privacy Guardian Inc on different listings.
One named owner per service makes it far easier to know who holds your data.
What You Give Up
You give up PotatoVPN’s dedicated gaming servers for titles such as Roblox and League of Legends, and its account-free free plan.

Most mainstream VPNs do not label servers by game. Pick the nearest server instead.
Leaving PotatoVPN
Cancel in the App Store or Google Play if you bought Premium there, and keep the receipt until any refund arrives.
Are PotatoVPN Alternatives Worth the Switch?
For gamers who also want privacy proof, yes. If PotatoVPN’s free plan covers your needs, an uncapped audited free plan is still a safer swap.
