The audits cover more than standard servers. Deloitte’s 2025 review included Double VPN, Onion over VPN and obfuscated servers, plus staff interviews. It followed the ISAE 3000 standard, Tom’s Guide reports.
The security audit found issues but nothing critical. Cure53 reported several high-severity vulnerabilities in its 2025 review of Nord’s apps and extensions, none rated critical. Our audit tracker compares providers.

The Downsides
Renewal pricing is the drawback Technerdo calls the elephant in the room, even in a positive review. A 2018 incident, disclosed in 2019, affected one rented server and exposed no user logs or credentials, CyberTrustLog notes.
