Does NordVPN have a free trial? Yes, two of them, and most guides describe the wrong one. NordVPN’s support page now lists a 7-day free trial on its website for new customers in 15 countries, on 1-year and 2-year plans. Separately, Android users can get a 3-day trial through Google Play. Many reviews still describe a 7-day Android trial, which no longer matches NordVPN’s own page.
There is also the 30-day money-back guarantee, which is not a trial but works like one. This page sets out all three and the conditions that catch people out.
NordVPN Free Trial: The Short Answer
Website trial: 7 days, 15 countries. It covers new customers on 1-year and 2-year plans in France, the US, Canada, Australia, the UK, Japan, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, Spain, Italy and Poland, NordVPN’s support page says.
Android trial: 3 days, through Google Play, for first-time users. It is not available in Bangladesh, India, South Korea or Sri Lanka.
Everywhere else: the 30-day money-back guarantee. First-time customers can request a refund within 30 days. Our NordVPN review covers the service itself.
The Three Ways to Try NordVPN
| Option | Length | Who qualifies | Payment details |
|---|---|---|---|
| Website free trial | 7 days | New customers in 15 countries, 1- or 2-year plans | Card or PayPal required |
| Google Play trial | 3 days | First-time Android users | Managed by Google Play |
| Money-back guarantee | 30 days | First-time customers | Paid upfront, refunded on request |
The NordVPN free trial on the website needs a card or PayPal. Google Pay, UnionPay, Sofort and cryptocurrency grey out the trial option, NordVPN says. You pay nothing during the 7 days, but the plan starts automatically if you do not cancel.
NordVPN emails a reminder of the price and conditions before the subscription begins, its support page notes. For current plan prices, see our NordVPN pricing guide.

How to Start and Cancel the NordVPN Free Trial
| Step | What to do | Note |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Choose a 1-year or 2-year plan on NordVPN’s pricing page | Trial-eligible plans only |
| 2 | Pay with a card or PayPal | Nothing is charged for 7 days |
| 3 | Download the app and sign in | Full access to your plan’s features |
| 4 | To stop: Nord Account, Billing, Subscriptions | Click Cancel next to Free trial |
| 5 | Cancel before day 7 ends | Otherwise the plan starts at the quoted price |
One trial per customer. The trial is only for first-time customers with a new Nord Account, NordVPN notes. The Google Play trial is cancelled through Google Play, not NordVPN.

If You Are Outside the 15 Countries
Use the money-back guarantee. You pay upfront, test for up to 30 days and request a refund from customer support. If you bought through Apple’s App Store, the refund comes from Apple instead, NordVPN says.
Refunds cover first purchases. The guarantee applies to first-time customers, so a renewal is not covered. Our guide to cancelling and getting a VPN refund covers the process across providers.
Avoid cracked apps. Unofficial premium APKs can steal credentials, PCrisk warns, and our free VPN guide covers safer free options. A genuine trial or refund costs you nothing if you cancel in time.
How NordVPN’s Trial Compares
CyberGhost offers a 24-hour no-card desktop trial and a 45-day guarantee on longer plans, and Proton VPN has a permanent free tier, as our free VPN trial guide explains. Whether a VPN is worth it at all depends on what you test during the trial.
What to test during the NordVPN free trial: speeds on your own connection, the streaming libraries you use, and the apps on each device. Seven days is enough for all three if you plan them.
Check the basics too. Our guide to checking a VPN and our DNS leak test guide cover them. A few minutes of checks on day one tells you whether the connection is sound before you spend the rest of the week on streaming and speed.
Expect some slowdown. Any VPN adds distance to your connection, as our speed guide explains, so compare against your normal speeds.

How We Research
The trial terms, countries, payment rules, cancellation steps and money-back conditions come from NordVPN’s support article on free trials, read on 27 September 2026. The warning about cracked apps comes from PCrisk. Reviews by CyberInsider and Security.org still describe a 7-day mobile trial; we follow NordVPN’s own page, which lists 3 days on Android. NordVPN is one of our affiliate partners. Our full approach lives on the About Us page.
