ExpressVPN Refund (2026): Self-Service in 30 Days, Plus a Renewal Window

Can you get an ExpressVPN refund? Yes: new subscribers can cancel within 30 calendar days of their first purchase for a full refund, ExpressVPN’s terms of service say. It is one of the few providers that lets you request it yourself, from the Account and Billing page, without waiting for a chat agent. And it offers something NordVPN’s and Surfshark’s policies don’t: a 14-day window to get your money back after an unintended renewal, according to its money-back guarantee page.

There are exclusions too, including app store purchases and gift cards. This page sets out all of it.

ExpressVPN Refund: The Short Answer

30 calendar days, full refund, new subscribers only. The clock is exact: an order placed at 8 a.m. on 1 July can be refunded until 8 a.m. on 31 July, ExpressVPN’s guarantee page explains.

Self-service or chat for your ExpressVPN refund. Request it from the ExpressVPN+ portal, or through live chat or email.

Not covered by the guarantee: App Store and Google Play purchases, subscriptions bought with redemption codes such as gift cards, and renewals, the terms say. Our ExpressVPN review covers the service.

Refunds usually arrive within 7 days to the original payment method, the terms say. Non-crypto refunds go out in US dollars, so a refund on a non-dollar purchase can differ slightly because of exchange rates. Crypto purchases are refunded in the same currency and amount.

A Dedicated IP add-on bought with the subscription is covered within the same 30 days, ExpressVPN’s support page notes.

The renewal window is the ExpressVPN refund exception worth knowing. ExpressVPN’s guarantee page says that if your subscription renews when you did not intend it to, you have 14 days from the renewal to get a full refund. Its terms separately say the 30-day guarantee doesn’t cover renewals, so ask support promptly if a renewal surprises you.

Store purchases follow store rules. Apple and Google decide those refunds, as our ExpressVPN free trial guide explains, which is why the mobile trial costs you the guarantee.

Stop Renewal to Avoid the Problem

Turn off automatic renewal in your subscription settings if you are unsure about staying. ExpressVPN’s renewal prices are higher than first-term offers, as our ExpressVPN pricing guide shows.

How ExpressVPN’s Refund Compares

NordVPN refunds only first purchases, with no renewal window, as our NordVPN refund guide explains. Surfshark, owned like NordVPN by Nord Security, excludes some add-ons. Our NordVPN vs ExpressVPN comparison weighs them head to head.

ExpressVPN belongs to Kape Technologies, which also owns CyberGhost, whose 45-day window on long plans is longer, as our CyberGhost guide notes.

How We Research

The refund terms, exclusions, timing and currency rules come from ExpressVPN’s Terms of Service, updated in July 2026; the self-service steps and Dedicated IP coverage from its refund-policy support article, updated in August 2026; the exact-30-day example and the 14-day renewal window from its money-back guarantee page; store rules from its FAQ.
