A family with many phones, laptops and TVs fits IPVanish’s unlimited limit. ExpressVPN’s Pro tier reaches 14, and a router counts as one device on both.

Quick Rule

Travel to restrictive countries: ExpressVPN. Big household or torrent proxy: IPVanish. Test both within 30 days.

Quick Check

After installing either, run our DNS leak guide and confirm the address on our VPN test page.

Support

Check each provider’s support channels during the refund window with a question about your own device.

Privacy on Public Wi-Fi

Both encrypt traffic on café and hotel networks. Turn the kill switch on first. Our public Wi-Fi guide explains the risks.

Keeping It Updated

After app updates, recheck the kill switch and protocol on both, since updates can reset them.

Ownership

ExpressVPN connected on every attempt in vpnpicked’s China testing, our tables record. The sources we read do not present IPVanish as a China option.

How We Research

This page draws on ExpressVPN’s pricing page, VPNOverview’s, Top10VPN’s and VPNpro’s 2026 IPVanish reviews, VPNAlert and our audit, device and ownership tables. We cross-checked these sources against each other, and where they conflict or something can’t be verified, we say so in the text rather than guessing. We checked time-sensitive figures, including prices in US dollars, on 8 October 2026. The main source we relied on is VPNOverview’s IPVanish review. Our full approach lives on the About Us page.
