IPVanish vs VyprVPN compares two US services. IPVanish, owned by Ziff Davis and based in the US, has two audits in our table, by Leviathan and Schellman, allows unlimited devices and owns its whole server network, Top10VPN notes. VPNOverview lists $57.22 for the first 24 months, renewing at $89.99 a year, and VPNAlert reports a SOCKS5 proxy on 25+ servers in 14 countries. VyprVPN has one audit, by Leviathan Security in 2018, before Certida LLC of Texas bought it in 2023. Its Chameleon protocol targets networks that block VPNs, it lists $60 a year, and sources disagree on its device limit, five or ten. BitsFromBytes found Netflix blocked it on 16 of 22 libraries in June 2026.
This guide compares them on privacy, devices, streaming, torrenting and fit.
IPVanish vs VyprVPN on Privacy
IPVanish has two audits; VyprVPN one, from 2018, before its sale. Tom’s Guide found VyprVPN’s kill switch let apps with custom DNS send requests outside the tunnel. Our VyprVPN safety guide covers its record.

Devices
IPVanish sets no limit. VyprVPN’s is disputed, five or ten depending on the source.
Streaming
VPNOverview reached major services with IPVanish, though VPNpro found its access inconsistent. BitsFromBytes found Netflix blocked VyprVPN on 16 of 22 libraries in June 2026.

Blocked Networks
VyprVPN’s Chameleon disguises VPN traffic where networks block VPNs. IPVanish closed its Hong Kong servers, our tables record. Our obfuscation guide compares methods.
Kill Switch
Tom’s Guide found VyprVPN’s kill switch let apps with custom DNS send requests outside the tunnel, so turn off custom DNS in browsers. Test IPVanish’s kill switch by switching Wi-Fi off and on.
Is IPVanish vs VyprVPN a Close Call?
Rarely. IPVanish leads on audits, devices, streaming and SOCKS5. VyprVPN’s case rests on price and Chameleon.
Who Each Suits

Ownership History
Golden Frog sold VyprVPN to Certida in 2023, after its only audit. Ziff Davis owns IPVanish along with StrongVPN. Our VPN ownership guide explains why parents matter.

Families
IPVanish covers a household of any size. Families considering VyprVPN should confirm its current limit, since sources disagree.
Support
Check each provider’s support channels during the refund window, especially for help with Chameleon on a specific network.
Jurisdiction
Both operate from the US. Audits and records matter more than location, as our Five Eyes guide explains.
Keeping Track
VyprVPN’s device limit and audits may change under new ownership. Recheck before renewing.
Torrent Settings
With IPVanish’s SOCKS5, VPN.ac advises disabling DHT, PEX and IPv6 in the client to prevent leaks. On VyprVPN, bind the client to the VPN and keep the kill switch on.
Torrenting
IPVanish offers SOCKS5 and P2P on every server. VyprVPN allows P2P but offers no SOCKS5, as our VyprVPN SOCKS5 guide notes.
Price
VyprVPN lists $10 a month or $60 a year. IPVanish lists $57.22 for 24 months and renews at $89.99. Our VyprVPN price guide covers its plans.

IPVanish’s Network
IPVanish runs 3,200 to 3,400 servers in 108 to 113 countries, depending on the source, all owned rather than rented. VPNpro counts 568 RAM-only servers across 19 locations. Our VPN servers guide explains why ownership matters.
IPVanish Streaming Results
VPNOverview reached Netflix, Hulu, Prime Video, Max, Disney+ and BBC iPlayer with IPVanish in 2026, while VPNpro called its streaming access inconsistent. Test the services you use within the refund window.
IPVanish on TVs

IPVanish belongs to Ziff Davis, which also owns StrongVPN, Encrypt.me, PCMag and CNET, our ownership table records. Read PCMag and CNET coverage of IPVanish with that in mind.
Checking Either
After installing, run our DNS leak guide, confirm the address on our VPN test page and test the kill switch by switching Wi-Fi off and on.
Public Wi-Fi
Both encrypt traffic on café and hotel networks. Turn the kill switch on first. Our public Wi-Fi guide explains the risks.
Keeping It Updated
After app updates, recheck the kill switch, protocol and any proxy settings in your torrent client.
Who Should Pick Which
Pick IPVanish for audits, unlimited devices, SOCKS5 and streaming. Pick VyprVPN for a lower list price and Chameleon on blocked networks. Our VyprVPN review covers it in depth.
How We Research
This page draws on VPNOverview’s, Top10VPN’s and VPNpro’s 2026 IPVanish reviews, BitsFromBytes, Tom’s Guide and our audit, device and ownership tables. We cross-checked these sources against each other, and where they conflict or something can’t be verified, we say so in the text rather than guessing. We checked time-sensitive figures, including prices in US dollars, on 8 October 2026. The main source we relied on is VPNOverview’s IPVanish review. Our full approach lives on the About Us page.
