PrivadoVPN free gives you 10 GB of full-speed data a month on one device, with servers in 10 countries. After the cap, PrivadoVPN keeps you connected on limited-speed servers rather than cutting you off, its App Store reply explains. Tom’s Guide found those speeds heavily throttled. TechRadar measured the best WireGuard speeds it has seen from a free VPN. Our audit table records no independent audits for PrivadoVPN. Our page on PrivadoVPN’s servers covers the 49 countries, free locations and P2P.
This guide sets out the free plan’s limits, where sources disagree, how it compares, and when to upgrade or look elsewhere. Our page on PrivadoVPN on Chrome covers the web proxy extension and its limits.
The Free Plan at a Glance
Tom’s Guide, Security.org and TechRadar agree on the core: 10 GB a month, one device, and a monthly refill. Sources differ on locations. Tom’s Guide counts 13 locations in 10 countries in its review and 12 in its free VPN roundup. The App Store listing says 12 servers. Apps run on Windows, Mac, iOS, Android and Linux, Tom’s Guide adds. Our page on PrivadoVPN for PC covers the Windows app’s kill switch, split tunnelling and SOCKS5.
Our device table records one more disagreement: PrivadoVPN’s free page has mentioned unlimited devices, while its support says one. Plan on one.

After the 10 GB Cap
PrivadoVPN’s App Store reply says that once you use your 10 GB, you can still connect to limited-speed servers on the free plan. TechRadar confirms you are not cut off. Tom’s Guide describes those speeds as heavily throttled, so plan heavy use for the start of the month.
Tom’s Guide puts 10 GB at around 80 hours of music streaming or about five hours of HD video.

Speed and Streaming
TechRadar measured the best WireGuard speeds it has seen from any free VPN, and found Netflix libraries opening without switching servers. Tom’s Guide was less impressed with streaming. Its free servers did not unblock everything, roughly matching Windscribe Free, and the app kept suggesting an upgrade for streaming support.
PrivadoVPN Free Server Locations
Tom’s Guide checked the IP addresses of free servers and found that not all sit in the countries PrivadoVPN lists. That matters little for privacy but can affect speed and streaming. Tom’s Guide also found no clear answer on whether every free server allows P2P. Our PrivadoVPN vs hide.me comparison sets the two side by side.
Privacy and Data Collected
PCWorld notes PrivadoVPN collects connected-device information to enforce limits, individual bandwidth use to enforce the 10 GB cap, and anonymous crash reports. Our audit table records no independent audit of its no-logs policy, and lists Iceland as its base after a 2026 move from Switzerland. We put the two side by side in our NordVPN vs PrivadoVPN comparison.
Our VPN audit tracker explains why independent audits matter for no-logs claims, and our PrivadoVPN vs ZoogVPN page compares it with another unaudited provider.
How It Compares
Proton VPN’s free plan has no data cap and servers in 10 countries, its Snap listing says, with five audits in our table. Windscribe’s free tier offers up to 15 GB. PrivadoVPN’s edge is speed within the cap. The comparison button below sets the two side by side. For a head-to-head, see our Mullvad vs PrivadoVPN comparison.
For other free options, our free VPN roundup covers what users recommend, and our free VPN trial guide explains paid trials and refunds as an alternative.

When to Upgrade
Upgrade or switch if you need more than 10 GB a month, more than one device, or audited privacy. PCWorld lists PrivadoVPN Premium at $10.99 a month, $35.88 a year or $47.76 for two years, with 10 devices. TechRadar quotes a lower long-term price, so check the checkout. Our Proton VPN free guide covers an uncapped alternative.
Other free plans set different limits; our TunnelBear free guide and Hotspot Shield free guide cover two of them.
Is PrivadoVPN Free Safe?
The apps encrypt your traffic, and Tom’s Guide credits the free plan with adequate security and privacy features, including a kill switch on Android. The open question is trust: without an independent audit, the no-logs claim rests on PrivadoVPN’s word. For banking or sensitive work, an audited provider is the safer choice. Our Surfshark safety guide shows what an audit record looks like.
Kill Switch and Leaks
Turn on the kill switch where your app offers it, as our kill switch guide explains, and run a DNS check with our DNS leak guide once after installing.
On public Wi-Fi, those two steps matter more than the data cap. Our public Wi-Fi guide explains the risks of shared networks and why a free VPN is better than none there.
A Quick Rule
Light browsing on one device? PrivadoVPN free fits. Streaming, several devices or audited privacy? Look at Proton VPN’s free plan or a paid service. Our Hotspot Shield vs PrivadoVPN comparison sets the two side by side.
Getting the Most From the Cap
Use PrivadoVPN free for public Wi-Fi and private browsing rather than streaming. Turn it off for large downloads and game updates on trusted networks, and watch the data counter in the app. Confirm the connection with our VPN test page.
How We Research
This page draws on Tom’s Guide’s PrivadoVPN Free review and free VPN roundup, TechRadar’s PrivadoVPN Free review, Security.org, PCWorld, PrivadoVPN’s App Store listing and replies, Proton’s Snap listing and our audit and device tables. We cross-checked these sources against each other, and where they conflict or something can’t be verified, we say so in the text rather than guessing. We checked time-sensitive figures, including prices in US dollars, on 6 October 2026. Premium prices differ between PCWorld and TechRadar; check the checkout. The main source we relied on is Tom’s Guide’s PrivadoVPN Free review. Our full approach lives on the About Us page.

The Verdict
PrivadoVPN free is one of the fastest free plans within its 10 GB cap, on one device. It lacks an independent audit, so users who want audited privacy without a data cap should compare Proton VPN’s free plan.
