NordVPN and Hulu work together in recent tests: Comparitech confirmed access in July and September 2026, and NordVPN runs around 2,000 servers in the US. A VPN only fixes location, though. Hulu is a US-only service for a single US household, and it requires US payment, which no VPN can supply.
Does NordVPN Work With Hulu?
Yes, according to Comparitech, VPNAlert and TheBestVPN. VPNAlert counts more than 1,970 US servers, and TheBestVPN lists over 15 US cities. That depth matters, since Hulu blocks VPN addresses it detects and you need a fresh one to switch to.

What NordVPN and Hulu Cannot Fix: Payment
Hulu requires a US-issued payment method when you sign up, and its terms describe a single US household. PCRisk sums it up: a VPN addresses location, not payment eligibility. Travellers with an existing US account have the easiest time.

Fixing the Hulu Proxy Error
If Hulu says you are using an anonymous proxy, switch to another US server without disconnecting, as SpeedTestHQ advises. Then clear cookies and cache, or try a private browser window, which VPNAlert suggests.

Choosing a US Server
Comparitech counts about 2,000 NordVPN servers in the US, and TheBestVPN counts more than 15 US cities. Pick a city near the side of the US closest to you for speed. SpeedTestHQ advises switching to another US server without disconnecting first, which avoids a brief leak of your real address.
The Anonymous Proxy Error
Comparitech links Hulu’s anonymous proxy error to IPv6 leaks in many cases. If your device uses IPv6 outside the tunnel, Hulu sees your real location. Test once with our IPv6 leak guide before blaming the server.
VPNAlert suggests an incognito tab when the error persists in a browser. That rules out old cookies quickly. If the incognito tab works, clear cookies in the normal window too.
Account and Payment Rules
PCRisk notes that Hulu is available only in the US and asks for a US payment method. A VPN does not solve the payment question. Hulu’s support also says a subscription covers one US household, and Comparitech mentions a risk to accounts that break the rules.
The clean case is a US subscriber travelling abroad. NordVPN keeps the existing account working on a US server.

SpeedTestHQ notes that NordVPN’s obfuscated servers form a separate category in the app. They disguise VPN traffic on restrictive networks. If you watch Hulu on a phone while travelling, check the phone’s location permission too. Some apps read device location as well as the IP address, and a mismatch can trigger the same error.
