A CyberGhost cancel stops the next payment, and nothing more. Tom’s Guide stresses the point: turning off auto-renewal does not start a refund. If you want money back within the 45-day window, you need a second step, a request to CyberGhost’s support.
Where you cancel depends on where you paid. A website purchase is handled in your CyberGhost account. An App Store or Google Play purchase is handled by that store. For the refund itself, see our CyberGhost refund guide.
How to Cancel CyberGhost on the Website
Engadget gives the route. Go to cyberghostvpn.com and log in. Click the logo at the top right, then Subscriptions. Find the plan, select Cancel Subscription, and confirm with Continue to Cancel.
That turns off automatic billing, and the service keeps running until the end of the paid period. Subger notes that CyberGhost may show a retention offer during the process. Decline it if you want to leave.

CyberGhost Cancel Steps in the App Stores
If you paid through Apple, open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and cancel CyberGhost there. On Android, open Google Play, then Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions, and cancel it.
Refunds follow the store as well. CyberGhost’s refund policy excludes App Store, Google Play and Amazon Appstore purchases from its 45-day guarantee. Our CyberGhost iPhone guide explains how the 7-day iOS trial bills through Apple, and our CyberGhost Android TV guide covers Google Play purchases on TVs.

Refunds After a CyberGhost Cancel
For website purchases, CyberGhost offers 45 days on the 6-month and 2-year plans, 14 days on the monthly plan. To ask, email support@cyberghost.ro, submit a request through the support centre, or open the 24/7 live chat. Tom’s Guide notes that missing the window means no refund.
By comparison, NordVPN and Surfshark give 30 days, and both belong to Nord Security. Our NordVPN cancellation guide and Surfshark cancellation guide set out their rules.

Cancelling the Free Trial
CyberGhost’s trials run 24 hours on Windows and macOS, 3 days on Android and 7 days on iOS. The mobile trials go through the app stores, so a CyberGhost cancel there happens in the store too. Our CyberGhost trial guide lists the terms.
What Renewal Would Cost
On 5 October 2026, the 26-month plan cost $1.99 to $2.19 a month, billed $51.74 or $56.94 depending on the page. After 26 months, it renews yearly at that first bill. Our CyberGhost price breakdown and renewal price comparison put those numbers in context.
| Provider | Renewal price | Per month | Tier |
|---|---|---|---|
| NordVPN | $139.08/yr | ~$11.59 | Basic |
| Surfshark | ~$79/yr | ~$6.58 | Starter |
| ExpressVPN | $99.95/yr | ~$8.33 | Basic |
| CyberGhost | $56.94/yr | ~$4.75 | 2-year |
| PureVPN | $47.95/yr | ~$4.00 | Standard, 2-year (1-year renews $57.95) |
| IPVanish | $89.99/yr | ~$7.50 | Essential |
| Windscribe | ~$69/yr | ~$5.75 | Pro |
| Proton VPN | ~$83.88/yr | ~$6.99 | VPN Plus |
| Mullvad | ~$65/yr | ~$5.40 | flat, no tiers |
| Norton VPN | $79.99/yr | ~$6.67 | Standard |
| Hotspot Shield | ~$95.99/yr | ~$8.00 | Premium annual |
| Astrill | $300 every 2 yrs | ~$12.50 | 2-year, same at renewal |
After You Leave
The account stays after a cancel. If you also want the apps gone, follow our CyberGhost uninstall guide, which covers the IPv6 setting to restore. If a fault made you cancel, our CyberGhost connection guide may fix it first. Slow speeds have their own fixes in our CyberGhost speed guide.
CyberGhost belongs to Kape Technologies, a London-based company that also owns ExpressVPN and Private Internet Access. Our VPN ownership map shows the group.
App Store and Google Play Subscriptions
If you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play, cancel there, not on CyberGhost’s site. Apple and Google manage those payments and their refund rules. Deleting the app does not cancel the subscription.
Retention Offers
CyberGhost may show offers during cancellation, such as a discount to stay. Read them, but continue with the Continue to Cancel step if you want to leave. The cancellation is not complete until you see the confirmation.
Cancelling Is Not a Refund
Cancelling stops renewal. A refund within 45 days, or 14 days on the monthly plan, needs a separate request, as our CyberGhost refund guide explains. Ask support for it directly.
After Cancelling
Keep the confirmation email. The service stays active until the paid period ends. Then uninstall the app, as our CyberGhost uninstall guide explains.
Payment Methods
If you paid by card or PayPal on CyberGhost’s site, cancellation stops the next charge. Check your account page afterwards to confirm automatic renewal is off. If a charge still appears, contact CyberGhost’s support with the confirmation email.
If you change your mind, you can usually resubscribe from the same account. Our CyberGhost review covers whether it is worth keeping. Keep every confirmation email until the final paid period has ended and no further charge has appeared.
Our guide to cancelling and refunds compares the process across providers.
How We Research
This page draws on CyberGhost’s refund policy and trial page, plus cancellation guides from Engadget, Tom’s Guide, Experte and Subger. We cross-checked these sources against each other, and where they conflict or something can’t be verified, we say so in the text rather than guessing. We checked time-sensitive figures, including prices in US dollars, on 5 October 2026. That day, CyberGhost showed two price grids on different pages. The main source we relied on is CyberGhost’s refund policy. Our full approach lives on the About Us page.
