Surfshark’s two-year Starter plan costs $67.23 for the first 27 months. What it costs after that is the question the pricing page answers least directly. Its own FAQ, asked what Surfshark costs after two years, says only that you pay the applicable renewal price. It then links to a separate page.
That page exists, and it is more candid than most. It says every plan renews at full price, lists renewal prices by location, and reserves the right to A/B test them. What it did not show us on 25 September 2026 was a number. The price table loads by script, and it came back empty. Reviewers who have seen it report $79 a year for Starter.
Surfshark Price: The Short Answer
Starter costs $67.23 for 27 months, which the page presents as $2.49 a month. One costs $75.33 and One+ $121.23 for the same term. All three plans allow unlimited devices, and all carry a 30-day refund.
After the first term, reviewers report $79 a year for Starter, $99 for One and $119 for One+. Those figures come from Security.org and VPNOverview, not from a page we could read ourselves. So treat them as the likely renewal rather than a quoted one.
Over four years Starter costs less than ExpressVPN or NordVPN. It comes to $225.23 in three charges, against $283.62 for ExpressVPN and $372.39 for NordVPN. Our Surfshark review covers what you get for that money.
Every Plan, and What It Is Reported to Renew At
These are the two-year figures Surfshark’s pricing page showed in US dollars on 25 September 2026. VAT or sales tax may be added, as the page says under each price.

Surfshark’s own plans guide, dated 30 July 2026, gives the one-year plans at $40.68 for Starter, $43.08 for One and $89.88 for One+. Month to month, the three plans cost $16.45, $18.95 and $21.85.
⚠️ Other published figures for the same two-year plan disagree. VPN.com reported $1.99 a month in May, Gizmodo $1.78, and Cybernews $2.49 over 24 months rather than 27. VPN.com also gives $15.45 for a month of Starter rather than $16.45. Surfshark’s page itself notes that prices vary with currency, VAT and coupons, so we quote the page on the day we read it.
Where Surfshark Publishes the Renewal
NordVPN and ExpressVPN print the renewal directly under each price, in one line. Surfshark puts it on a separate billing page, reached from a link inside the pricing FAQ. Our NordVPN pricing page and our ExpressVPN pricing page show how the other two present it.
The billing page states four things plainly. Subscriptions renew at the standard non-introductory rate. Surfshark emails you 30 days before a renewal, except on monthly plans. Tax is recalculated at the rate on the day of the charge. And the charge currency follows the country where your card was issued, with US dollars for everywhere not on its list.
It also contains a clause worth reading twice. Surfshark reserves the right to A/B test its prices, and it says the displayed renewal prices may be part of that testing. In other words, two readers checking the same page can see different renewal figures. A figure a reviewer publishes may not be the one you see.
⚠️ The practical answer is to look at the renewal page yourself on the day you buy, while logged out and from your own location. Then keep a copy of it, since it is your only record of the price on offer.
What the Reported Renewal Means in Practice
If the reported figures hold, Starter goes from $2.49 to $6.58 a month, which is 2.6× after 27 months. One goes from $2.79 to $8.25, or 3.0× after 27 months. One+ goes from $4.49 to $9.92, which is 2.2× after 27 months.
The page’s discount works like ExpressVPN’s. Starter’s struck-out $444.15 is exactly 27 months at the $16.45 monthly price, so the 85% is measured against monthly billing. Against the reported renewal, the same 27 months would cost $177.75, and the saving is 62%. Our renewal price table sets these figures against the other providers.
The renewal is still far below monthly billing. A year of Starter at $16.45 a month costs $197.40, which is $118.40 more than the reported $79 renewal. So staying on after the first term costs more than the introduction, yet much less than going month to month.
Four Years on the Starter Plan
Here is what leaves your account over four years, charge by charge, using the reported renewal.
Surfshark on the two-year plan: $225.23 in three charges — $67.23, then $79 twice. Those charges cover 51 months.
Surfshark on the one-year plan: $277.68 in four charges — $40.68, then $79 three times.
Surfshark month to month: $789.60 in 48 charges of $16.45.
On the same basis, ExpressVPN Basic comes to $283.62 and NordVPN Basic to $372.39 on their two-year plans. Prorated to exactly 48 months, our four-year table puts Surfshark near $205, which matches the calculation above.
Starter, One or One+: What Each Step Up Buys
All three plans run the same VPN on the same servers, with unlimited devices. The difference is the other Surfshark products bundled in.
Starter covers the VPN, the CleanWeb ad and cookie pop-up blocker, split tunnelling, Dynamic MultiHop and rotating IP. It also includes Alternative ID, which generates masked emails and personal details for sign-ups you do not trust.
One adds Surfshark Antivirus, Surfshark Alert for breach monitoring, scam protection for email and text messages, and a web content blocker. On the current offer it costs $8.10 more than Starter over 27 months, which is 30 cents a month. At the reported renewal the gap becomes $20 a year.
One+ adds data removal by Incogni and identity theft coverage of up to $1M. It costs $45.90 more than One over the first term and a reported $20 more a year after it.
⚠️ Both One+ extras are regional. The page limits Incogni to residents of the US, UK, EU, Switzerland and Canada, and the identity theft coverage to US residents outside New York State. Elsewhere, One+ adds little over One.
Add-Ons, Currency and Tax
Surfshark sells a dedicated IP as an add-on in 20 locations. You choose it from your account page rather than at checkout, so the pricing page does not show its price. Our dedicated IP guide covers who needs one.
The charge currency follows your card. Surfshark bills in pounds, euros and seven other currencies for listed regions, and in US dollars for the rest of the world. From Southeast Asia, where we are based, that means dollars, and your bank may add its own conversion fee on top.
Tax is added at checkout and recalculated at renewal. So the renewal charge can differ from the listed figure even if Surfshark’s own price has not changed.
How Surfshark’s Renewal Compares
The reported $79 for Starter sits below ExpressVPN’s $99.95 and well below NordVPN’s $139.08. That last gap is notable, because Surfshark and NordVPN share a parent, Nord Security, as our ownership guide sets out. The same group charges $60.08 a year more for its other brand’s entry plan.

Refunds, the Trial and the Renewal Email
The refund window is 30 days from signing up, on every plan. Surfshark’s site links straight to a refund request form, and our refund guide covers the process.
The free trial runs through the app stores. Surfshark’s plans guide describes a seven-day trial through Google Play or the App Store, taken on the 12-month option. The pricing page limits a trial to three devices until it ends. Our free trial guide compares it with other providers’ trials.
The renewal email arrives 30 days ahead. That is useful, since it is the one moment Surfshark itself tells you the price you are about to pay. Read it rather than filing it, and switch off auto-renewal from your account if the figure is not what you expected.
When to Buy
In our records, Surfshark’s lowest headline price came at Black Friday. In November 2025 its two-year plan ran at about $1.99 a month with three months added, as our Black Friday page recorded. Published figures for that sale ranged from $1.69 to $2.49.
Against today’s $2.49, that is roughly $0.50 a month, or $13.50 across 27 months. The renewal afterwards is the same either way, so a sale changes the first bill and nothing after it.
Who Should Pay for Surfshark
Households with many devices. Every plan allows unlimited connections, where NordVPN stops at ten and ExpressVPN at fourteen. And our multi-device guide compares it with the capped alternatives.
Buyers who will stay beyond the first term. The reported renewal keeps its four-year cost below ExpressVPN’s and NordVPN’s.
Anyone who wants antivirus in the bundle. One adds it for 30 cents a month in the first term.
Who Should Look Elsewhere
Month-to-month buyers. At $16.45 a month, Surfshark charges more than NordVPN or ExpressVPN for a single month. Our monthly pricing guide shows who charges least without a commitment.
Anyone who wants the renewal in writing before paying. The renewal page shows figures by location and reserves the right to test them. That makes the number less fixed than a price printed under the plan.
