CyberGhost Crunchyroll access gets a beginner-friendly verdict from PrivacyJournal’s 2026 test, which praised the streaming-optimised servers but noted occasional buffering in HD. TechNadu also lists CyberGhost among its top five VPNs for Crunchyroll. The US library is the main draw: NAT Checker counted more than 1,320 series there in September 2026, against about 720 in Germany or France.
This guide covers which library to target, the setup, the errors and the fixes.
Which Library to Target
Crunchyroll’s catalogue differs by country. NAT Checker’s September 2026 count shows the US library far larger than European ones. SpeedTestHQ notes some titles appear only in Japan’s library, reached through Tokyo servers, and that Crunchyroll is not available in every country.

CyberGhost Crunchyroll Setup
Install CyberGhost on the device you watch on and sign in. Open the For Streaming list and pick a server in the US for the largest library, or a Japanese server for Japan-only titles. Then open Crunchyroll and sign in.
Comparitech found browsers more reliable than apps for Crunchyroll with a VPN. If an app shows your home library, try the website in a private window.

Common Errors
Comparitech and NAT Checker list 403 Forbidden and error 1005, which comes from Cloudflare, as signs of a blocked server. TechNadu describes a Restricted Content message and temporary IP bans. Switch server first in each case.
Test for leaks with our IPv6 leak guide and DNS leak guide. CyberGhost does not support IPv6, so disable it if your network uses it.

Buffering
PrivacyJournal saw occasional buffering in HD. Pick the US server nearest to you, keep WireGuard on, and switch city if buffering persists at peak times. Our CyberGhost servers guide explains how to pick a server.
Crunchyroll on TVs and Sticks
On Fire TV, CyberGhost’s app runs on Fire OS 6 and later, as our CyberGhost Firestick guide explains. Android TV runs it too, covered in our Android TV guide. Close Crunchyroll fully after connecting so it checks the location again.
Temporary IP Bans
TechNadu describes Crunchyroll temporarily banning addresses linked to unusual activity. If a server that worked earlier suddenly fails, wait or move to another US city, and avoid repeated sign-ins on the same server.
CyberGhost Crunchyroll on Phones
On phones, connect CyberGhost first, then open Crunchyroll. If the app shows your home library, try the mobile website in a private tab, which Comparitech found more reliable. Our CyberGhost iPhone guide covers the iOS app.
Picking a US City
CyberGhost has servers in more than 11 US cities, BleepingComputer notes. From Europe, the East Coast is closer; from Asia or Australia, the West Coast. Keep two working cities saved, since the one you use most may be blocked on a given day.
A Dedicated IP for Crunchyroll
Shared addresses get flagged because many people use them. A CyberGhost dedicated IP is used only by you, with several US cities among its locations, Tom’s Guide notes. Our CyberGhost dedicated IP guide covers the token system.
Testing Before You Commit
Library access changes as Crunchyroll updates its blocks. Test CyberGhost Crunchyroll access on the devices you use within the refund window, and confirm the US address first with our VPN test page.
Why the Libraries Differ
Crunchyroll licenses shows country by country, which is why NAT Checker’s counts differ so much between regions. Subscribers travelling from the US keep their usual library by connecting home. Titles tied to the account’s region may stay hidden even on a working server, which is a licensing rule rather than a CyberGhost fault. Check Crunchyroll’s own terms on access from other regions, since services set their own rules.
Keeping a Working List
Note which CyberGhost servers worked with Crunchyroll and when. Streaming services update their blocks, so a short list of two or three working cities saves time on the day one stops working, especially before a new season premieres.
A Quick Rule
US library: US server. Japan-only titles: a Japanese server. Errors: switch server, then the browser.
Anime on Netflix
Netflix carries anime too, and its libraries differ by country. CyberGhost unblocked every Netflix region in Tom’s Guide’s May 2026 test, as our CyberGhost Netflix guide explains.
What CyberGhost Costs
CyberGhost renews at $56.94 a year on its 2-year plan, according to our renewal table. It covers seven devices. CyberGhost’s refund window is 45 days on plans of six months or longer and 14 days on the monthly plan, as our CyberGhost refund guide explains, which leaves time to test Crunchyroll on your own devices.

How We Research
This page draws on PrivacyJournal’s and TechNadu’s 2026 Crunchyroll VPN tests, NAT Checker’s September 2026 library count, Comparitech, SpeedTestHQ, Tom’s Guide and our renewal table. We cross-checked these sources against each other, and where they conflict or something can’t be verified, we say so in the text rather than guessing. We checked time-sensitive figures, including prices in US dollars, on 6 October 2026. Renewal from our renewal table. The main source we relied on is PrivacyJournal’s Crunchyroll VPN guide.
