The name adds a second wager. FastestVPN is not the fastest VPN by any independent measurement we have seen, while NordVPN lost only 2.9% of download speed in CNET’s testing. This comparison is about what each bet costs you if it goes wrong.
NordVPN vs FastestVPN: The Short Answer
Choose NordVPN for verified privacy, speed and scale. It rates 4.8 in our NordVPN review, with six published audits by PwC and Deloitte and a network many times larger. It costs $372.39 over four years on the Basic two-year plan.
Choose FastestVPN only if the lifetime price is the point and you accept the risk that the company may not last. It rates 3.7 in our FastestVPN review, with an audit from 2023 and port forwarding included.
At $35, the lifetime plan costs $59.23 less than NordVPN’s first bill alone. The trade is everything after that.
The Lifetime Question
Published prices for FastestVPN’s lifetime plan have ranged from $23 to $40 in sources dated within about a year of each other. Our review could not reconcile them and treats the plan as a rotating promotion rather than a fixed product.
A lifetime plan means the life of the company. No provider contracts to serve you for your life, and if the business closes, the subscription closes with it. Our lifetime VPN guide explains why we advise against these plans in general.
FastestVPN is the strongest counterexample we know of. It has operated since 2017, sits in the Cayman Islands outside the intelligence alliances, and completed an independent audit. That is evidence it may last, though not a guarantee.
⚠️ The arithmetic is simple. One NordVPN renewal, at $139.08, costs almost four times the $35 lifetime price. If FastestVPN survives three years, you are well ahead; if it closes after one, you have still paid less than NordVPN’s first bill.
If a Lifetime Provider Closes
You lose the service, and our lifetime guide warns you may have no recourse. It records that companies selling these plans frequently disappear, leaving customers with nothing to claim against. A refund window protects the first month, not the fifth year.
So judge the plan as a prepayment, not an asset. At $35, FastestVPN needs to last only a few months to beat NordVPN’s first bill on cost per month. Whether it lasts for years depends on a company whose ownership is thinly documented, which is the part no price can offset.

Privacy and Audits
NordVPN has six published no-logs audits and is based in Panama. Our audit tracker sets that record against every provider.
FastestVPN has one, completed by Altius IT in 2023. It is real verification, yet it is also three years old and unrepeated. By the standard we apply elsewhere, a single 2023 report says little about the company today.

If you can afford the subscription and value verification, choose NordVPN. If the lifetime price is what matters, FastestVPN is a rare such offer with an audit and a track record behind it, and you should still treat it as money spent.
