Hotspot Shield Apple TV support does not appear to exist as an app. The App Store listings for Hotspot Shield we read name iPhone and Apple Vision as compatible devices, not Apple TV, and AlternativeTo lists Android TV and Fire TV among its platforms, but not Apple TV. Apple has allowed VPN apps on Apple TV since tvOS 17, so this is a Hotspot Shield gap, not an Apple one.

Hotspot Shield Apple TV: What the App Store Shows
Hotspot Shield’s iOS listing requires iOS 14 or later and lists iPhone and Apple Vision. Apple TV is absent from the compatible devices. The developer is shown as AnchorFree, with Intersections as the copyright holder; our ownership table places Hotspot Shield under Point Wild.
Security.org adds that the free plan has no smart TV apps at all.
Workaround One: Screen Mirroring From an iPhone
Run Hotspot Shield on an iPhone and mirror the whole screen to the Apple TV. In full mirroring, the phone fetches the video through the VPN and sends the picture to the TV. App-based casting often hands playback to the Apple TV itself, which then uses its own connection, so use full mirroring if the VPN location matters.

Connect Hotspot Shield on the iPhone and confirm the address with our VPN test page. Open Control Centre, tap Screen Mirroring and choose the Apple TV. Open the streaming app on the phone and play. The picture appears on the TV while the phone handles the connection.
Mirroring keeps the phone busy and drains its battery, so plug it in for long sessions.
The Free Plan and Mirroring
Security.org notes Hotspot Shield’s free plan limits mobile speeds to about 2 Mbps and allows one device, with adverts. That is too slow for comfortable HD streaming over mirroring, so the free plan suits short clips at best.
Workaround Two: A Router
A router running a VPN covers every device on the network, Apple TV included. We found no confirmed Hotspot Shield router setup in the sources we read, so check its support pages before relying on this route.

Check what you already pay for before switching: if you only need a VPN on the Apple TV, a native app matters more than any other feature.
