We advise against lifetime VPN plans. Our page on them says the companies offering them frequently disappear, leaving no service and no recourse.
So this review sets that warning against its strongest counterexample. FastestVPN sells one, and unlike most of the category it has a jurisdiction worth having and an audit that actually happened.
Is FastestVPN Any Good?
The privacy credentials are better than the price suggests. The Cayman Islands sit outside the Five, Nine and Fourteen Eyes arrangements with no mandatory retention — the same structural position ExpressVPN occupies from the British Virgin Islands.
An independent no-logs audit was completed in 2023 by Altius IT, a certified systems auditor. That is real verification rather than a claim.

The Lifetime Question

Published prices for the same lifetime plan span $23, $35 and $40 across sources dated within about a year of each other. We could not reconcile them, and the spread is itself the finding: this is a rotating promotion rather than a fixed product.
“Lifetime” means the life of the company. No provider offering one contracts to serve you for your life, and none could. If the business closes, the subscription closes with it.
The arithmetic is genuinely attractive if it holds. At $35 the plan costs less than a single year from most audited providers, and our renewal table shows what the alternative looks like in year three.
⚠️ So the question is not whether the price is good. It is how long the company lasts. FastestVPN has operated since 2017, which is longer than most of the services that took lifetime money and vanished. That is evidence, not a guarantee.
What You Actually Get
More than the price implies, which is the second surprise.
Ten simultaneous connections, with reports of fifteen on the higher lifetime tier.
WireGuard, OpenVPN and IKEv2, plus an ad blocker, a NAT firewall, Double VPN and a password manager.

Streaming works. Multiple independent reviews report success across Netflix libraries and the major platforms, which is not something we often say about budget services — though access is a moving target on every provider.
⚠️ Split tunneling is missing on iOS and macOS. That is a real gap, though on iOS it is a gap nobody fills — per-app routing is unavailable to every consumer VPN there.
Where It Falls Short
The network is small. Around 800 servers in roughly 49 countries, against thousands for the providers ranked above it. Popular locations can congest.
Speed is adequate rather than exceptional. Reviewers describe it as respectable on nearby servers and unremarkable at distance, which makes the company name a marketing decision rather than a measurement.
One audit, and it is from 2023. Mullvad publishes annually and IVPN has eight consecutive reports. One report three years old is above the unaudited providers and well below the leaders.
Ownership is thinly documented. Unlike the brands in our ownership map, the corporate structure behind FastestVPN is not widely reported, which is not an accusation but is a gap.

How It Compares to the Others We Rate Similarly
Hide.me has a newer audit, from 2024, and a Malaysian base equally outside the alliances. Its free tier is the reason to look at it.
PrivadoVPN has no audit at all, and relocated to Iceland over a proposed surveillance law. Better free tier, weaker verification.
FastestVPN sits between them on evidence and beneath both on network size — and it is the only one of the three selling a plan you buy once.
Who It Is For
Buy the lifetime plan if you accept the specific risk, which is company failure rather than product failure. At $35 the break-even against an audited annual subscription arrives inside two years.
Buy something else if the audit cadence matters to you. One report from 2023 is not the same argument as an annual one.
And buy nothing on a superlative. The name claims a speed ranking that no independent testing supports, and a company willing to build its brand on an unverifiable claim is telling you something about its marketing rather than its network.
